Cabinet Organizers You
Can't Live Without!
Cookware, silverware, storage containers, cans, spices, boxes, trash... OH MY! Organizing the kitchen can be a giant puzzle! Especially if you have a smaller kitchen. Luckily, today there are plenty of creative and innovative storage solutions available. From storing pots and pans to organizing a messy pantry, manufacturers are offering storage solutions that can make the most of your kitchen cabinets. Here are some of the best!
• Utensil Pull-out
Placing a utensil storage pull-out in the base cabinet next to the range allows you to have easy access to the tools you need when preparing a meal. A well-designed utensil built-in has plenty of space for not only cooking utensils, but knives as well. You will never search the back of a drawer for a particular utensil again! This pull-out even has a storage shelf at the bottom for spices or measuring cups which are also useful right next to your cooking space.
• Custom Walk-in Pantry
A functional pantry is the number one request for home owners when it comes to the kitchen. Nothing runs as efficiently as a kitchen that includes a well organized walk-in pantry. Thanks to features like pullout baskets, pocket doors and plenty of shelf space, your pantry can be the perfect solution for storing everything. The best pantries offer you the ability to see everything in them, so you don't end up buying items you already have.
• Multi-Level Pot/Pan Pullouts
This is a tiered roll-out tray that fits into the base cabinet. The design allows easy access to pots and pans, from frying pans to stock pots. It also has areas to keep pot lids organized and accessible. Another idea is deep drawers particularly under or next to your cooking area. Either way, you will keep your favorite pots and pans easily accessible and in easy reach.
• Mixer/Small Appliance Lift Outs
These are small but strong platforms that hold the heavy mixer or small appliance. They swing out and up to working height on a locking hinge system that helps in lifting, holding and using the appliance. This accessory frees up counter space by keeping your most used small appliances close at hand and easy to access. No more breaking your back carrying it across the room.
• Pullout Trash/Recycling Center
Having a pullout waste center in a base cabinet can make cleanup and organize recycling quick and easy. It not only hides unattractive bins, but it frees up floor space. Also, if you have a pet, a trash pull-out with a lid is a great idea for storing that heavy bag of pet food which makes feedings much easier.
• Deep Base Cabinet Drawers
Having a deeply divided drawer in the base cabinet is the perfect organizational solution for storing storage containers, plates, bowls, or even glasses if your wall cabinets are at a minimum. They also allow you to store all your pots and pans where you can see them easily.
• Vertical Dividers
Deep cabinets, either base or tall cabinets, are the perfect organizational solution for storing serving trays, muffin tins, cooling racks, cookie sheets, cutting boards, stoneware and broiler pans. You would be surprise just how many items can be stored vertically allowing for easier access... no more digging for the item you need!
• Don't Forget Your Four-Legged Family Members!
Pets are such an important part of many homeowners lives. A growing trend in kitchen remodeling includes adding a pet station. It can hold bowls for food and water, a place to store leashes, or even contain a dog or cat bed. It's a great way to include your pets in the remodeling process.
At CHW, we work closely with our clients to provide them with the perfect accessories to make their time in the kitchen more efficient. Our designers look at lifestyle and how clients use their kitchen, then work with them to create a functional design to meet the needs of their unique daily needs. This Month's Feature Recipe
Easy Chocolate
Covered Strawberries
This super easy recipe is a great way to show your love for that special Valentine in your life... what a great gift!
  • 16 oz. Milk Chocolate Chips
  • 1 lb. Fresh Starwberries with Stems
  • 2 tablespoons shortening

  1. In a double boiler, melt the chocolate and shortening, stirring occasionally until smooth.
  2. Holding them by the toothpicks, dip the strawberries into the chocolate mixture.
  3. Turn the strawberries upside down and insert the toothpick into styrofoam or lay on wax paper for the chocolate to cool.

Optional: For a more decorative look, melt white chocolate the same way as the milk chocolate and drizzle over the cooled chocolate strawberries. Also try switching it up as the photo shows with the white chocolate being the main color with drizzles of milk chocolate instead. For easy and clean drizzling, fill a ziplock bag with the chocolate and snip a small hole in one corner for the chocolate to be "drawn" out of.
