And This Year's
Home Show Winner is...
Greetings!

CHW Cabinetry has been busy this month with the biggest home show of the year in our area! We thank all those who stopped by our booth and entered for a chance to win the above custom Adirondack Outdoor Bar and Cooler. This great prize went to Rachael B. of Columbia, SC and was packed not only with a cooler and work surface, but also a hidden storage compartment, hooks for utensils, and even a bottle opener. If you entered our drawing but did not win, feel free to browse our entire line of Adirondack furniture including this bar, all of which are made to order right here in our CHW wood shop.

Rachael was not the only winner of this year's show... CHW took the 2019 Innovation Award for the Best Outdoor Living Product chosen by the Builder Industry Association of Central SC. We are very honored to have been chosen for our outdoor bar, and look forward to next year's competition.

Ventilation With Style:
Range Hood Ideas
Kitchen appliances have been getting sleeker and more eye-catching in recent years, and range hoods are no exception. Your range hood is an essential functional element of your kitchen and can also serve as a focal point, or even a “style-defining” part of your kitchen design.

Today, you have a wide range of choices when it comes to type, design, and materials. Here are some stylish range hood design ideas for your kitchen remodel that will meet your aesthetic and functional needs!
  • Chimney Hood
These are standalone units that attach to the wall when there are no cabinets above the stove. Chimney hoods are among the most stylish options available and often can serve as a focal point of the kitchen. As seen in the example, chimney style hoods. They come in a wide variety of both wood or metal versions. They can be finished to match the cabinets, or in a contrasting color as a design statement.
  • Mantle Hood
A mantle style hood typically connects to the upper kitchen cabinets. They are usually made out of wood and are often finished to blend into the cabinetry and “disappear” into the kitchen design. These range hoods are custom designed to integrate with your surrounding cabinetry, complement the architecture of the kitchen and add a focal point. A mantle hood is a great way to make a statement while not sacrificing the space that you typically lose on either side of a freestanding chimney hood.
  • Under-Cabinet Hood
These are installed under the cabinets above your range. They save a lot of space and leave room for additional storage. Keep in mind though that the cabinet above will most likely have a duct running through it, so storage space above will be limited.
  • Downdraft Hood
These are typically located at the back of the stove. Often these systems are integrated into the range or cooktop. They are typically used to save space or keep the lines of the kitchen open. They are retractable and stored out of sight when not in use. Of all the options for range hoods, the downdraft is the least effective at removing unwanted smoke and steam, but much better than no ventilation at all.
These are the range hood styles most often requested by our clients, and as you can see, each has unique design qualities that can help you to define your style. With a wide variety of materials and styles available, work with your CHW designer to narrow your choices. Whether you're looking to make a statement, create a visual focal point in your kitchen, or conceal your ventilation to keep the lines of your kitchen sleek and modern, there's a range hood style and material that's perfect for you. Product Spotlight!
Closets and Pantries often get forgotten when remodeling or building a home. Many times funds run out and customers end up putting in site-built panels and shelving in these areas just to fill the space. Problem with this is these are often fixed shelves and painted onsite which are prone to chipping down the road with constant use. We would like you to consider one of our economical closet brands in lieu of the site built cabinetry. You will get wall-to-wall storage that uses every square inch, and adjustable storage which can change as your needs change through the years.
