Comprehensive Trade Education

In this edition of Williamson College of the Trades' newsletter Williamson Focus, we highlight exactly what is meant by Comprehensive Trade Education. We detail what’s unique about our classroom theory, hands-on skills training, leadership education, and character development that enable our young men to excel in their future careers. Our tradesmen graduate in three-years with an associate degree in Specialized Technology in one of six trade programs: Construction Technology – Carpentry, Construction Technology – Electrical, Construction Technology – Masonry, Landscape Construction and Management, Machine Tool Technology, and Power Plant Technology.

We are proud to have remained rooted in our founding principles while making cutting-edge advancements in the field of trade education. Whether you are a Williamson alum, a business owner seeking tradesmen, an interested community member, or a high school guidance counselor, I invite you to learn more about our distinguished school by reviewing the below materials. Please share them with anyone who might like information about how to support our efforts and make a difference in preparing deserving young men to be respected leaders and productive members of society.

History

and Legacy

Isaiah Vansant Williamson

Founder of Williamson College of the Trades

Isaiah Vansant Williamson left a legacy in 1888 when he founded the school now known as Williamson College of the Trades. His goal was to offer an education at no cost for high-school-aged men. Since then, the school has responded to advancements in education and integrated more modern considerations into the curriculum, but never without honoring our founder’s original mission.

While many of today’s trade schools focus primarily on the hands-on skills needed to obtain high-demand jobs, Williamson College of the Trades takes a more comprehensive approach to preparing students for the real world. It’s that distinction that has earned us an outstanding reputation with employers in our community and garnered attention from students and businesses across the country.
