Was Sold Out! Last Call for Our Few Additional Bottles Just Allocated

3x Rare & Electrifying White Burgundy Bargains Jean-Philippe Fichet

Last year, Burghound's Allen Meadows said:
“As I have said repeatedly, the Fichet wines are among the very best and purest in Burgundy.”
This year, he had this to say:
"Fichet has again done extremely well and his 2022s are wines to look for almost across the board."

Dear Artisans,

This is like going back in time to 2008 and buying Cult white Burgundy names like PYCM, Roulot, Coche-Dury, Dauvissat, and Raveneau for what is now pennies on the dollar. This is fact and not hyperbole.

All the names dropped above have become once-a-year treats that don't make it to the shelf for long, if at all. Even the producers we used to call “overlooked” are becoming allocated, which is the case with Jean-Philippe Fichet's wines. We just received our allocation of three of his stunning 2022s, but only a paltry few bottles of each.

Jean-Philippe is the rare grower to bootstrap a new domaine in Burgundy’s modern era, assembling his holdings parcel by parcel over a nearly 40-year career.

Fichet’s style resembles Roulot’s the most, with riveting focus, purity, delineation, and incredible transparency. Today's lineup offers textured, racy, and cult-caliber wines without artifice. So, without further ado, let's get into it because these bottles will be gone before dinnertime:

2022 Jean-Philipe Fichet Bourgogne Cote-D'Or Blanc

A blend of three Meursault vineyards, all with average vine age exceeding 50 years, all planted on deep clay and limestone soils located in "Les Dressoles" (north side of Meursault), "Les Grands Clous Perrons" and "Grandes Coutures" on the south side of Meursault.

Allen Meadows' BurgHound:

"A discreet but not invisible application of wood sets off cool and relatively high-toned aromas of lemongrass and pear nuances. The delicious and vibrant flavors possess a lovely texture while exhibiting solid length on the balanced, dry and refreshing finish that is supported by citrus-tinged acidity. Good stuff for its level and worth a look." (Jun 2024)

Jasper Morris' Inside Burgundy:

"Pale lemon, very light and indeed attractive reduction. White fruit, fattens out a little on the palate, harmonious, just enough acidity. Very pretty fruit reappears to finish. Drink from 2025-2028." (Oct 2023)

2022 Jean-Philipe Fichet "Vieilles Vignes" Bourgogne Cote-D'Or Blanc

Produced from two parcels of vines that are between 40 to 78 years-old; one across a narrow road from Meursault-Charmes and another within the Meursault appellation. This wine has more Meursault character than the vast majority of Meursault villages wines, as well as the depth and concentration you’d expect from White Burgundy twice the price.

Allen Meadows' BurgHound:

"A spicier and more layered nose is otherwise similar to that of the regular cuvée. On the palate though the sleeker and more refined medium weight flavors possess impressive density while delivering better depth and persistence on the clean, dry, compact and balanced finish where a touch of austerity emerges. This is excellent, indeed examples of Bourgogne are rarely better - one to buy, especially for value." (Jun 2024))

Jasper Morris' Inside Burgundy:

"Pale colour with a lime tint. Generous but attractive. Excellent mid palate intensity with lemon notes to finish, not more ample than the regular but there is still a touch more class to the fruit. Drink from 2025-2029." (Oct 2023)

2022 Jean-Philipe Fichet Auxey-Duresses

Produced from two vineyards of vines that are between 24 to 49 years-old. "Les Nampoillons" is located in the fault running towards St Romain, with full southern exposure; this plot is located on very stony white marl. "Les Closeaux": located at the entrance to the village, on the Meursault side.

89-91 Points - Allen Meadows' BurgHound:

"A bit more obvious, though not intrusive, wood surrounds the distinctly cooler nose of Granny Smith apple, lemon rind and crushed anise. I very much like the texture of the medium-bodied flavors even though it is somewhat less refined than those of the Rully, all wrapped in a lingering finish that displays focused power and good minerality. This is also quite good and worth checking out." (Jun 2024)

88-90 Points - Jasper Morris' Inside Burgundy:

"Pretty lemon yellow quite an exotic, almost musky nose, which is tamed with a little aeration. There is a very good heart to the fruit, fresh lemons and a generosity not always to be found in Auxey-Duresses. Drink from 2025-2030." (Oct 2023)
