Dear CvC Friends,

Mom died of cancer at 47. No one should have to say goodbye to a mom so young. Unfortunately, there are too many such stories. But - because of your help - there are fewer of these stories than there used to be.

Deaths due to cancer have decreased by 33% in the past three-plus decades. As Coaches vs. Cancer celebrates its 30th anniversary, we are proud to be a part of that fight. And we are thankful you are a part of our team. 

I look forward to joining you in Las Vegas next month. And, if there is someone who can keep their mom around longer because of our efforts, all our work is worth it.

Over 2 million new cancer cases will be diagnosed in the US this year. 

Over 611,000 deaths from cancer are projected for the US this year.

Since its peak in 1991, the cancer death rate in males and females combined has declined by 33% because of the efforts of people like you. 

In its 30th year, Coaches vs. Cancer has raised over $167 million

to support the American Cancer Society. 

The Las Vegas Golf Classic has become a signature event

supporting Coaches vs. Cancer. 

Together, we are saving lives. 

Patrons asked to provide all needed info asap

Participants who have yet to provide organizers of the Coaches vs. Cancer Las Vegas Golf Classic presented by Sanford Health with any needed registration information (click here to access the form) are asked to do so immediately.

This may include room information, handicaps, shoe size, shirt size and cell phone number. This information is critical for organizers as we work with key partners such as Park MGM and Nike.

CvC involvement began with LV Golf Classic

ESPN’s Sean Farmham - the longtime emcee of Las Vegas Golf Classic parties - has been named to the American Cancer Society Board of Directors. A passionate advocate, Farnham has been a key player on the Coaches vs. Cancer team for many years, whether through his leadership in forming connections with the media, the annual Farnham Flatbread fundraiser, or participation in many signature events across the country. 

Program designed to honor loved ones

There is still time to be a “Hole Hero” at the 2024 Coaches vs. Cancer Las Vegas Golf Classic presented by Sanford Health. The program allows participants to honor a loved one who has passed away from cancer, is being treated for cancer or is a survivor.

Growing sponsorships - such as Sixth Man and Hole Hero - are key to the Classic raising funds for the American Cancer Society. 

"Hole Hero" sponsorships start at $5,000 and will include signage on the course, exposure in e-newsletters and special recognition during LV Golf Classic events. Underwriters will also receive a round of golf for four (outside of LV Classic dates) at either Southern Highlands Golf Club, DragonRidge Country Club or Reflection Bay Golf Club in the Las Vegas valley. NAME THAT COACH



Answer: Kansas State head coach Jerome Tang was selected as the 2023 Werner Ladder Naismith Men's College Coach of the Year after guiding the Wildcats to a 26-win season and its 13th trip to the Elite Eight in his inaugural season.



Tang is just the third coach in the program's history to be selected National Coach of the Year, joining Fred "Tex" Winter (UPI) in 1958 and Jack Hartman (NABC) in 1980, while he is the fourth head coach from a Big 12 institution to earn the honor from the Naismith Trophy. He was a candidate for nearly every other National Coach of the Year honor in 2022-23, including finishing as the runner-up for The Associated Press award. In addition, he was the consensus Big 12 Coach of the Year, earning the honor from both the league coaches and the AP.
