Giving DuPage Days

May 1 - May 3, 2024

Giving DuPage Days is a county wide fundraiser event to celebrate, support and raise awareness for nonprofit organizations serving DuPage County. For these 3 days, an entire county will come together to send a resounding message of HOPE to local nonprofits. The LPEF has joined this initiative of focused online giving!

We hope you will join us May 1 - May 3 to share the generosity and support.

Funds raised through Giving DuPage Days will support the many programs and initiatives of the Lake Park Educational Foundation.

In addition to the general fundraising event, which will support initiatives such as scholarships, teacher grants, and the Lancer Emergency Fund, we have special fundraisers to focus on our partnerships. The Foundation has partnered with different groups and departments within Lake Park to make sure every student has every opportunity to meet their potential!

Robotics at Lake Park

The goal of the partnership between the LPEF and the Robotics Club is to grow the robotics program at Lake Park High School.

The Robotics group designs, builds and competes in local, state and national robotic competitions using only VEX robotics components.

Classroom STEM concepts are put to the test as students learn lifelong skills in teamwork, leadership, communication, computer programing and more.

The VEX Robotics Competition, operated by the Robotics Education and Competition Foundation, is a program that inspires thousands of students worldwide to pursue STEM-related education and career paths.

INCubatorEDU@LPHS

The LPEF has partnered with Lake Park High School to serve as the fiscal agent for the INCubator program, facilitating philanthropic support for the business education program. The financial support includes the initial purchase of the program, the seed money for the student teams’ MVP (minimum viable product) pitch and scholarships to the “winning” team during the “shark-tank” final event.

In the INCubator course, students engage in hands-on, entrepreneurial learning by developing a business of their own. The course culminates in a Pitch Night event, where students present their business plan in a “shark tank” competition. Winning projects will be awarded scholarships from our INCubator funding partners. The students’ classroom learning experience is enhanced by local business professionals who serve as team mentors and classroom coaches.

Marching Band Partnership

The Lake Park High School Marching Band program and the LP Educational Foundation have created a partnership to assist the Marching Band in growing excellence, leadership and school spirit. The Lake Park Marching Band program strives to provide a rich and rewarding musical experience for all of its students, and is dedicated to giving students the opportunity to grow musically, socially, and academically.

The Marching Band program is a "no experience necessary" group open to all students. The band includes woodwinds, brass, drumline, pit (auxiliary percussion), and color guard (dance, flags, rifles, and sabers). The Marching Band has a long and proud tradition of excellence. This volunteer extra-curricular marching band has been a finalist, class champion and grand champion at numerous state, regional, and national events over the past three decades.

The main purpose of the partnership is to provide scholarships for the drum majors to attend the Bands of America Drum Major Institute. This national camp prepares our students to step into the roles of being the “tip of the spear” for our marching band student leadership team and conducting the band during performances. This camp is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that profoundly impacts our students and literally changes the trajectory of their lives. The real-life “soft skills” they acquire (in addition to all the conducting skills) are directly applicable to their adult lives.

LP Gateways Partnership

LP Gateways is a partnership between the LP Educational Foundation and Transition Assistance Program (TAP). The purpose of LP Gateways is to raise funds for all Lake Park students who receive special education services to participate in a continuum of coordinated transition activities which

support post-secondary goals.

For Example, funds are used for: Fees for entrance exams, applications, non-accredited courses, and assessment fees; Tools and resources to support executive functioning and organizational skills; Disability Awareness Workshops; Certifications and training specific to a vocation; Guest speakers and/or tours; Equipment or uniforms; and Registration fees for recreational programming.

The TAP provides a continuum of special education services for students with disabilities following the completion of four academic years of high school. TAP provides students with functional life skills and vocational instruction. TAP creates a "bridge" between school and adult life for students with disabilities.

Freshman English - Poetry Capstone

Each year, Adam Gottlieb partners with Lake Park's English Department to provide all freshman students the opportunity to explore their identity through the art of performance poetry. Adam is an experienced poet and mentor who provides a safe, constructive space for all students to grow and learn.

Adam workshops with students through the drafting process and performance preparation. Lake Park recognizes the effectiveness of his mentorship and community building, as Adam is able to quickly build rapport and trust with the students, and the students respond remarkably well to Adam and his process.

The Lake Park Educational Foundation has partnered with the English Department to ensure this collaborative and meaningful workshop can be offered each year to all Lake Park Freshman.
