The Badger High School FFA greenhouse is open! On Saturday, May 18, the greenhouse is open from 9 am to 3 pm. The greenhouse is open weekdays after school from 3:15 to 4:30 pm through May 23nd.

Students in the greenhouse management classes have been growing plants all semester in the Badger Greenhouses. Agriculture Instructor Larry Plapp estimates that over 30,000 plants have been planted for this annual event. Plapp and his classes have conducted a spring plant sale for 27 years.
Math Bowl
4th and 5th grade students from Star Center Elementary and Eastview Elementary worked in teams to solve challenge math problems. All the problems were multi-step and required students to explain the mathematical thinking that went into solving the problem. It was equal parts math work and team work. Great work students!
Lake Geneva Schools & Guest Artist Dean Sorenson Present: The Area Jazz Festival
A special night of jazz featuring musicians from Badger, Lake Geneva Middle School, Brookwood Middle School and Woods School will be presented on Wednesday, May 29th in the Badger High School Auditorium. The concert will feature a piece written and arranged just for this evening by Dean Sorenson, Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.

The Area Jazz Festival is an annual event in Lake Geneva. Each year a guest artist and clinician is brought in to work with and perform with the bands. Sorenson, mentor to Lake Geneva Middle School Band Director Amanda Krause, is a highly sought after composer and arranger. “A few years ago we reached out to Dean to see if he would be willing to write a commission for a mass jazz band,” said Krause. “He agreed and became sort of an ‘Artist in Residence’ for last year and this year. We are completely humbled that we were able to have Dean write this tune for our festival.”

LGMS 6th Grade
Outdoor Education
Learning doesn’t always need to take place in the classroom. The 51st Annual Lake Geneva Schools' Outdoor Education Program brought lessons to life for sixth graders during the week of April 22. Students spent two full days in the great outdoors at YMCA Camp Maclean in Burlington. The program provided students with a variety of unique learning experiences. These experiences involved a hands-on approach to learning about human interaction and socialization, as well as a laboratory experience in working with ecology, nature, and outdoor skills.
Lake Geneva Schools is opening two new charter schools for the 2019 - 2020 school year, Maple Park Charter School (Grades 4K - 8) and New Visions Charter School (Grades 9 - 12).
