As you know, I have warned you of scams in the past.  The IRS scam has now escalated to a call stating the caller is from the Lake County Sheriff's office and you are asked to contact an Officer regarding a warrant for your arrest.  The caller ID looks like it is from the Sheriff's office.   The people calling are professionals and I don't want our residents to fall for these threats.   Please notify your neighbors that the Lake County Sheriff's office will not call you regarding the IRS.

If you have concerns, you can contact the Sheriff's office at 847 549-5200 or p lease call me at the office at 847 223-2847 or on my cell at 847 833-1019.

Have a wonderful holiday weekend.

Hawley Road Update
Asphalt paving on Hawley will begin on Wednesday 5/25. They will start paving at Hawley Court, including driveways. Also, they plan to pave the bike path between California and Midlothian. The mainline Hawley pavement will be placed Thursday and Friday, at which point all driveways will be re-opened. Hawley Court needs to be done first so they trucks won’t have to cross the fresh mainline pavement. It’s a different crew/equipment than the mainline paver, which is why they’ll take care of the bike path while they are here on Wednesday. Please use caution around the asphalt trucks.

After Memorial Day, they will begin prepping and placing curb between Prairie and US 45. It will be the same order of operations in that stretch: curb, sidewalk, driveway aprons, paving.

At some point next week, the contractor will begin work on the parking lot for Carl Sandberg Middle School. That work is key to beginning the reconstruction of the south leg of California. When we have a date for the California work, we’ll let you know. That work will include a full closure of California, but only after Pershing is re-opened to traffic.

AT&T crews are still working by Seymour. When they are complete, our contractor will be able to complete the storm sewer there and get that area ready for curb. It may be another week or two away.

The contractor is starting to get the landscaping work scheduled. New sod will be placed along the south side of the road as the work is completed. The contractor hopes to get this in before July, when the weather is too hot to allow for good sod.

When the asphalt is complete this week, we’ll have completed a little over half of the new road necessary to end the detour.

Have a good Memorial Day weekend!
