KINDERGARTEN SHINES BRIGHT FOR ANNUAL OCEAN GLOW DAY
Last week's Kindergarten Ocean Glow Day was a sand-sational success! Families were invited to join their students and explore the classroom-turned-underwater habitat. Glow-in-the-dark coral reefs and student-made rock fish, inspired by the book Only One You, transformed the space. After the students presented their ocean animal research projects, they transitioned to glow learning centers, complete with a different ocean-themed activity at each station. Students then enjoyed creating ocean-themed glow-in-the-dark perler beads after rotating through all five learning centers. Ocean Glow Day is always such a fun, learning-filled day!

UPPER SCHOOL MARINE SCIENCE STUDENTS EXPLORE TIDE POOL WONDERS
Last week, our Upper School Marine Science students embarked on an expedition to the Hollister Ranch Conservancy Tide Pool School. Amidst the beauty of these untouched tide pools, the group encountered an array of fascinating organisms, from sea urchins, kelp crabs, and chitons to two-spotted octopi, sea stars, and an array of kelp variants. Students were led by docents that included UCSB fourth-year students, which fostered meaningful interactions and an enjoyable learning experience. Students have delved into topics such as marine adaptations in class and are currently learning about and dissecting various organisms. They are also beginning an exploration of conservation efforts aimed at protecting marine life. Thank you to Hollister Ranch Preserve for hosting such a memorable field trip!

POWERHOUSE PERFORMANCE: LAGUNA BOYS SWIM TEAM SECURES SECOND PLACE IN CIF-SOUTHERN SECTION DIVISION 4 CHAMPIONSHIP
Congratulations to the Laguna Boys Swim team—Rio Valle '25, Bennett Sullivan '26, Jack Grube '26, and Eric Feng '27—for their outstanding performance in the CIF-Southern Section Division 4 Swim Championship at Mt. San Antonio College. Despite their small roster, they secured second place, outperforming 61 other schools and accumulating 168 points. Their score was a whopping 25 points higher than Sierra Canyon's tally from the previous year when they were reigning D4 champs. The Owls dominated the 200 Freestyle Relay, earning 44 first-place points and claiming a championship banner for Merovick Gymnasium. Although narrowly edged out by Thousand Oaks High School in the final event, their achievement marks a historic moment for Laguna's swim program. With Rio, Bennett, Jack, and Eric set to return next year, the future looks promising for Laguna.
