EIGHTH GRADE PRESENTS REALM OF RESISTANCE PROJECTS TO KINDERGARTEN AND FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS
In this dynamic project that combined STEM and humanities, eighth grade students studied the energy transformations associated with amusement park rides, but with a "resistance" twist. Each group was assigned a plot of land that they were responsible for developing in their resistance movie, book, or show theme. Rides were required to utilize an assigned energy transformation and demonstrate the law of conservation of energy.
On Wednesday, kindergarten and fifth grade students enjoyed lively demonstrations of each of these projects on the Hope Ranch campus.

LOS PADRES CLUB EMBRACES WILDERNESS SERVICE & ADVENTURE
During a three-night stay at Niro Campground in Los Padres National Forest, four Upper School students and chaperones Staci Richard, Al Silva, and Michelle Finck engaged in trail maintenance service for the LPFA. Despite an initial encounter with rain, they quickly adapted, enjoying dinners cooked on a camp stove under Mr. Silva's umbrella and later bonding over s'mores and jokes by the campfire. Their outdoor adventures included spotting a bobcat, stargazing with Andreas's telescope, and learning practical skills like gathering firewood, starting a fire, and preparing meals over the fire. After days of hard work, they found relaxation by the river and even embarked on an excursion to find a hidden swimming hole on their last day, packing their own lunches for the journey.

A great way to celebrate and acknowledge Arab American Heritage Month is by reading literature with meaningful and diverse representations of Arabic people. The scope of representing the entirety of Arabic diversity is too large to fit into four suggestions, but these books feature positive messages about our differences and similarities.
