Founders Week - May 13-17

2024 Educator of the Year

Sue Peter

Founders Week, celebrated throughout the world at Lasallian schools. Founders is a time for staff and students to come together for activities, traditions and reflections.

The week kicked off with our annual tradition of tie-dying Founders Day shirts that highlighted LaSalle's 170 years of being the light! Throughout the week, students and staff worked together to collect essential items needed for the Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless as a way to give back to our community. Students had the opportunity to deliver all the items at the end of Founders Week.

A day was dedicated to Liven Up LaSalle and make campus beautiful. Students and staff worked in teams to plant flowers, clean up flower and vegetable beds and collect garbage around campus. The senior class dedicated their time to spell out LaSalle in beautiful flowers that is showcased in the front of campus.

Other activities for the week included, Chalk the Walk, which provides students in opportunity to express positivity throughout art. Our CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge team was at it again with the largest participants in over 20 years! On the final day of Founders Week, we honored many staff members for their dedication and commitment to LaSalle School with our annual staff recognition awards.

Our Educator of the Year award was proudly presented to Ms. Sue Peter. Sue is our science teacher who has been with LaSalle since 2011. Sue stated, "the earth literally moved me to let me know that LaSalle was the place where I belonged." The day Sue interviewed on campus there was an earthquake in Washington, D.C. that was felt in Albany. She took it as a sign and has been at LaSalle ever since. She works with the students to keep our garden beds blooming, our pavilions full of flowers and takes each science lesson and turns them into a fun interactive activity. Congratulations Sue, our 2024 Educator of the Year!
