Give back at La Vista Days

The La Vista Giving Project is a community service project organized by La Vista Gives that will take place during La Vista Days on Saturday, June 1. You're invited to participate!

How it works

Stop inside City Hall at 1:30 p.m. to pack a personal hygiene kit for a veteran. All supplies are provided and kits are easy to assemble, so all ages are welcome. This is a fun and simple way to give back!

The La Vista Giving Project’s theme is “Love Our Vets." Kits packed on June 1 will be given to Moving Veterans Forward, a local non-profit organization that places homeless veterans in permanent housing.

American Legion Post 32 named Friend of La Vista

Congratulations to American Legion Post 32 for being selected as the 2024 Friend of La Vista!

To show appreciation for the organization's dedicated service to the local community, Legion leaders and members will be honored later this month at

La Vista Days.

Gather to remember and honor local heroes

La Vista's Hometown Heroes Ceremony will be Thursday, May 23 at 6 p.m. outside City Hall.

Members of American Legion Post 32, Papillion-La Vista High School musicians, guest speakers, La Vista Police and Mayor Douglas Kindig will be in attendance to celebrate the legacy of the fallen.

Bardo's bench

A special bench dedication was held last week in honor of La Vista Police K9 Officer Bardo, who passed away unexpectedly last June.

City staff, elected officials and police gathered with Officer John Danderand and his family to honor the work of not only Bardo, but also that of Officer Danderand, who was the handler for four different K9s dating back to 1998, Bardo being his last.

The bench is on the hillside close to the Southwind Park playground overlooking the dog park. Look for it on your next visit.
