LWV OPRF September 7 Week in Preview
HERstory: The 19th Amendment Turns 100!
After working together on the show Dangerous Women, Chicago cabaret artists Catherine Thomson and Anita Kallen have reunited to prove once again that "well-behaved women seldom make history." They celebrate - in song and HERstory - the rabble-rousing pioneers who won the right to vote for the women of America. With music by Sondheim, Lennon & McCartney, the Sherman Brothers, Parton, Schwartz, Porter, and others, Anita and Catherine weave in the story of women's suffrage from second-class citizenship at the nation's founding to the nail-biting final days in the fight for ratification of the 19th Amendment. We're excited to announce a "kickoff" event for this virtual performance with the Skokie Theatre on Labor Day from 3:00 to 4:00pm. You can buy your tickets ($15 per household) here and watch the show from the comfort of your living room!  If you're an individual who would like to see the show and can't make the Labor Day event, contact the Skokie Theatre at 19thAmendmentShow@gmail.com to get on the list for an upcoming pay-per-view event.
