Fall Kick-off
Save the Date! Our Fall Kickoff Event is coming virtually this Wednesday, September 16, at 7:00pm. Reimagining Community Policing: Constructive Community Solutions will include LaDon Reynolds, Chief, Oak Park Police; Sharon Welch, League of Women Voters Chicago; Colleen Sutkus, Sarah's Inn, Forest Park; Christian Harris, Business Owner and Director, Oak Park Library Board; and Anita Pindiur, Way Back Inn/Grateful House, Maywood. Voter Registration and Mail Ballots
Members of the Voter Service Committee have been visiting businesses and restaurants in Oak Park, River Forest, Forest Park, Cicero, and Berwyn. They have been distributing flyers with QR codes that link to the Cook County Clerk's Office website for online voter registration and mail ballot requests. Thanks to Marge Massarello, Tara Joyce, Wendy Epstein, Carolyn Skipper, Wendy Greenhouse, Eric Bryning, Judy Crown, Kathy Perry, Cathy McNeilly, Jane Hastings, Michelle Fitz-Henry, Amy Cordell, Bev Tuck, and Peggy Kell. There are still a few flyers left. Do you know of a business that could post a flyer? The flyers are on Peggy Kell's front porch, so pick up is easy. You can also send the English or Spanish flyer electronically to a business. Our League has visited over 33 business areas, passing out approximately 300 flyers. Amazing!

Criminal Justice Discussions
The Criminal Justice Study Committee recently came to agreement on the first of the 14 consensus questions. The question under "Investing in Communities" was: To reduce crime and violence, should there be investment in underserved and/or impoverished communities? Please take the time to read all the consensus questions to ready yourself for the consensus process scheduled for January. This study will ultimately update the LWV IL position on Criminal Justice.
