The LWV IL Biennial Convention, held June 8-9 in Champaign, was a busy and informative weekend. Workshops, caucuses, and networking were the highlights of the weekend.  Approving a new board, bylaws changes, and program work for the upcoming  2 years was done by our delegates Marsha Borders, Ann Courter, Beverly Graham, and Peggy Kell. You can read Ann Courter's short summary of the convention doings here. You can also access workshop and caucus convention materials here.

The Forest Park Village Board of Commissioners approved a resolution honoring Illinois being the first state to ratify the 19th Amendment on June 10 at their monthly board meeting. Thanks to Michelle Fitz-Henry for attending the meeting and presenting the yellow roses. The Oak Park Village Board of Trustees will be presented the same resolution for approval tonight, June 17. The River Forest Village Board of Trustees approved the resolution on May 28.
Each year, our League provides a Local League Representative to attend the LWV Cook County monthly meetings. These meetings take place in downtown Chicago on the second Tuesday on the month, from 10:00am-Noon. You will learn about the many interest groups that study and observe Cook County governmental boards. All local leagues within Cook County send representatives to these meetings.
