Last Call! Tomorrow, January 9, starting at 9:30 am at the Nineteenth Century Charitable Association, 178 Forest Ave., Oak Park, our League will host a discussion on opioid overdose prevention. Overdoses are the leading cause of accidental death in the U.S. Free access to Narcan® (the overdose reversing drug) is now available for free in Oak Park. Receive a list of where the “harm reduction boxes” are located that contain Narcan®. Learn how to use the spray, receive a kit, and leave prepared to reverse a fatal overdose. The speakers, Sara Semelka and Chelly Richards, are educators from the Oak Park Department of Public Health. This event is free and open to the public. Everyone is welcome!

Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Commissioner Cam Davis is hosting a lunchtime webinar this Wednesday, January 10, from 12:15-1:00pm, with industry professionals to discuss flooding in the area, home and building flood preparedness, and environmental justice issues of historical flooding. This event is free and you can access the Zoom link to attend here.

LWV Illinois is sponsoring two trainings for the upcoming election season. There will be a Candidate Forum Training on Saturday, January 13, at 10:00am. Register for the Zoom event here. Moderator Training will be held via Zoom on Saturday, January 20, at 10:00am. Register for that training here. Members who are interested in helping or leading future candidate forums should attend one of these trainings.
