Katie Carlile is at “Top-Nazarene-Talent” at Trevecca Nazarene University

Katie Carlile joined a host of other teens and headed to Nashville, TN and Trevecca Nazarene University this last Thursday night. She is our LWNaz representative this year!

Katie settles into her van seat as she prepares to head out on the 800-mile journey to Trevecca’s TnT beginning this last Thursday night.

Thousands of other teens throughout the southeast USA met up with Katie and our Southern Florida contingent at Trevecca. A huge tent was erected on the campus. This is the opening night ceremonies and program.

Keeping our campus beautiful every week!

Luis Najera is a loyal member of our La Gran Comisión congregation. He also lovingly and faithfully cares for all the grounds and landscaping on our huge campus. He not only does all the landscaping but takes care of our intricate irrigation system as well.

Luis has been in the landscaping business for over 35 years. That’s his regular job! On Fridays and other days after work he can be found mowing, trimming trees, putting in new plants, fertilizing and spraying for weeds. This is all volunteer work for Brother Luis. He provides all the equipment, fertilizer, and chemicals.

His labor, sweat and efforts save the church about $250 each week!

Luis Najera completes his mowing efforts around the campus to keep everything looking trim and beautiful.

Luis Najera keeps all the tree trimmed and fit for service and beauty!

Luis Najera and his wife Macrina are faithful members at La Gran Comisión church. They are often the first to arrive for Sunday services. Together they also help in cleaning the church facilities on Friday evenings. We all owe a huge amount of gratitude to the Najera’s and all they contribute to beautifying the church campus, but more importantly what they are adding to God’s Kingdom.

Prayer requests for the Holy Land

The city of Jerusalem where at least three world religions exist and where tensions are everywhere!

The following is an update from the Church of the Nazarene on the ongoing conflict in the Holy Land.

We strongly encourage Nazarenes to join in prayer for the incomprehensible loss of life and destruction in Gaza and Israel.

Since 7 October 2023, more than 31,000+ Palestinians and 1,400+ Israelis have been killed. Of the 31,000+ Palestinians killed, more than 13,000 were children. Of the 1,400+ Israelis killed, at least 33 were children.

According to the United Nations Office, at least one in every four Palestinians in Gaza is on the brink of famine. The destruction of Palestinian hospitals, schools, houses, and general infrastructure has created a dire humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. In addition, 134 Israelis continue to be held hostage in the Gaza Strip.

Please pray for an immediate ceasefire, protection of life, and for humanitarian aid to reach all those in need.

Pray for our Nazarene brothers and sisters in the Holy Land and the surrounding areas who are impacted by the violence and instability.

We appeal to Nazarenes around the world to be advocates for peace and justice in the Holy Land.

As Nazarenes, we embrace the divine call to a life of holiness, wholeness, and restorative living where all things and all peoples are reconciled to God.

The Church of the Nazarene affirms God’s restorative purposes for the world are wholly good and include Israelis and Palestinians equally. Palestinians and Israelis are made in the image of God and equal in God’s sight. We must condemn ideologies that are inherently racist, antisemitic, or dehumanize any people group – be it Arab, Jewish, or any other group. May we as a denomination be a voice for peace and justice in the Holy Land – and in all places – remembering Jesus’ call to be peacemakers.
