FEBRUARY 2021
Dear Friends,

A community is so important as it moves us into knowing there is work to be done and calls forth the love that motivates us to be a part of the healing of others. You are our VTR community and we could not provide what we need to without your support and care.

Because of you, we are able to support specialized services to our boys. This month we have 3 boys that are reunifying with their families. This means that they have been separated from their families because of emotional or behavioral disorders and are either dependents of Social Services or delinquent juveniles placed by Juvenile Court order. They can reunify because they have worked hard to heal, to change, and now they get to go home. Some boys decide to become independent at 18 years old. Read our story about Rick below!

Rick will be living in a Transitional Living Home (TLH) closer to his family, but VTR also provides a TLH for housing and supportive services.
If you can support the Ranch or our Transitional Living Home, please indicate this in your tear-off return donation slip on the back of this newsletter or as on online donation.

Without our VTR community, we would not have the privilege to help those we serve. Thank you.

In love and peace,
Andrea Evans, CEO

Rick, One of Our VTR Ranch Graduates!
Rick, came to us with H.S. Diploma in hand. Most of our boys have not graduated so that is one of our primary goals at the Ranch. Rick enrolled in college and got a job in Madera. He also worked up to a higher position in his job.
Within the first weeks at VTR, Rick said to one of his leaders, Mr. Ward, “I have to radically accept that I still need to be told what to do.” Through treatment and working through our program, Rick accepted his reality of needing assistance and help to succeed. Mr. Ward said that Rick was a great example to the rest of the boys at the ranch.
Rick will graduate from our program at VTR and move into a Transitional Living Home closer to where his family is located. He will maintain his independence, continue with college, and have help as he navigates his future.
Thank You Kaiser Permanente Foundation!
Kaiser Permanente has approved a $25,000.00 grant to VTR for support of Life Space Crisis Intervention Trainers. VTR will provide training in our community to help youth providers navigate and regulate emotional escalation in children and youth.
After we were approved for our $15,000 grant, the Kaiser Foundation called us to let us know that they wanted to help us through the additional need they knew we had navigating the pandemic. They awarded us $10,000 more!

Kaiser Permanente’s mission includes improving the health of the communities they serve. Throughout their 75-year history as a nonprofit healthcare organization, they have continually made investments to support healthy communities. They believe in supporting organizations like ours that make a difference in people’s lives.
