The LOA is very excited to announce that our first ever virtual fundraiser, Let's Give Lunch, raised over $65,000 for LOA's Meals on Wheels and Nutrition Programs! Thanks again to all those who supported the cause to ensure that no senior goes hungry!
Christmas in July was celebrated in our Alleghany County service area! All of our Meals-on-Wheels recipients received these supply boxes thanks to contributions from the Alleghany Foundation, the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce, Covington Family Dollar Store and the M3 Militia. We are grateful for this wonderful community support!
LOA's Morningside Diners Club was able to begin meeting again in early July. The group had been unable to get together since March! They celebrated with coffee and doughnuts.
This group of seniors all live within the Morningside facility and are therefor already in contact with each other and do not need transportation. They were thrilled to dine together again.
In order to have some time together, LOA's Botetourt Diners Club held an outdoor Lunch and Learn session last month. This group has also been unable to meet since March and were happy for the opportunity to get together!
The LOA had another Diner's Club Drive-Thru last week. Our Downtown Diners Club, based out of Loudon Ave. Christian Church is one of the clubs that's still not able to meet. A huge THANK YOU to Loudon Avenue Christian Church and their members for providing a meal, a snack bag, paper towels and homemade poundcake for all of the diners who were able to make it out!
We are always very thankful for our volunteers who come out each month to help us with Senior Food box delivery! And we are especially thankful when the weather makes it harder to work. So, a big shout out to all the volunteers who helped delivery boxes in July during a muggy, hot, summer day! You all rock! Some of those seniors who receive the food box delivery have not made it out of their homes since before quarentine began so they are thankful to see a friendly face and have the plentiful food boxes delivered.
