Hello District 4L4 Lions,
It is an honor and a privilege to serve as your district governor this year. I am looking forward to visiting all the clubs to present International President Oliveira’s message of “Make your Mark”.
I would like to ask all club presidents to return the youth protection form back to 1st VDG Roger by the deadline date of July 30th whether you have a Leo club or not. These forms are mandated by the State of California to complete. Let’s be 100% compliant!
I would like to thank IPDG Drew for his guidance last Lions year as I had learned numerous things from him. I am looking forward to working with both Lion Roger and Lion Marianne this year as we make our mark as the DG Team.
My theme is “Lions guiding the way to service”. I truly believe by us completing service in our communities will draw new folks to join our organization.
We are currently working on Mission 1.5 which means that we are still being tasked with growing membership. Growing our membership will strengthen each club. As we work to add new club, this will help create new service in surrounding communities. LCI’s goal is that by 2027 is to have 1.5 million members worldwide. Moreover, this means that we will make the mark of 1 billion hours of service.
Last Lions year we exceeded our LCI fundraising goal for the district and in Multiple District 4. We are number one for LCI fundraising in our constitutional area, what an honor and all thanks to our great clubs! I hope that we can beat last year’s goal! As a heads up, during the district meetings PDG Steve Lacey will be having fun with LCI fundraising.
At each of the district meetings we will have various district projects speak so we can become more aware of what each project does and how as Lions we can help them make their mark. We will also have a service project at all district meetings and at the District Convention. Watch for our flyers that will let you know what the project will be!
Finally, one of my Goals is for the Lions of District 4L4 to engage in a project that our District Leo’s set up with the expectation of it being a Leo/Lion project that the entire district supports. This past Lions year there was little support for the Leos, so I have added visitation points for attending a district Leo function, helping at Leo Projects and more. We have changed the LEO AWARDS to be given out at their final LEO MEETING, so be sure to look at the due date for Leo of the year, Leo President of the year and Leo Secretary of the year to get your nominations in on time. Plan to attend and cheer on these hard-working Leo’s so they can feel the Lion Pride supporting them! I believe these students are the future faces of Lionism and we should embrace this fact and bring them in to engage in our pride side by side!
Most of all, I would like to reiterate this is your district and we would like to hear from any District 4l4 lion member. We are willing to listen to all suggestions and comments.
Yours in Service , Lion Scotty and Irish

We Made It! We Did It!
Once again Lions have stepped up to the plate
and hit a grand slam!
What I am talking about is the report given by LCIF
President Brian Sheehan at the recently concluded
Lions International Convention in Melbourne,Australia.
As you may know, each year, the Lions Club International
Foundation sets a goal for our fundraising efforts (to gather
the funds to support our service projects).
This year, LCIF President Brian asked us to STRETCH
our efforts...above and beyond...could we meet the goal,
and then some?
Well, we did it. We did what he asked and more!
President Brian asked for $70 million dollars in
LCIF giving in 2023-2024....Our Lions and Clubs
responded by giving $75 million dollars!
Well done Lions and clubs! You have every reason
to be proud of this accomplishment.
With a Spirit to Serve,
Lion PDG Steve Lacey, LCIF Coordinator
