Dear Fellow Lions:

First I want to thank the Zone Chairs for a wonderful job you did on your first Zone meeting. YOU ROCK!!!

It was exciting to see the enthusiasm for zone projects from food collections to other ideas for projects in the coming future.

As Governor Scott, 1st VDG Roger and myself start visiting your clubs, we want to hear your ideas on how we grow our membership through service.

As we all know service will attract community minded people who want to serve their communities.

Our first District meeting is scheduled for August 31, 2024 at Kiwanisland Park in Garden Grove. If you have not done so already, get your reservations in as soon as possible to District Secretary, Diane. I understand that Governor Scott will be throwing hatchets at a target. This should be fun to watch.

Again, I know we are just getting the year underway but lets join “Hands in Service” to make this a great year and to help each other out.

Be kind to everyone and lets grow our MEMBERSHIP.

Yours in Lionism

An LCIF Update

Cucamonga District Host

Answers the Challenge

from Ontario-Host

In last week’s WRAP, the Ontario-Upland Club

announced that they were going to be a 100% Club

this current Lions year in regards to LCIF giving.

That means, each member, over the course of the year,

will donate $50 (or more) to this worthy cause.

(There are many different ways to do this…just ask

Loyce, or PDG Steve…some as easy as just doing

$5.00 a month)

Well…Cucamonga District Host is taking up their

challenge. We too will endeavor to be a 100% club in

regards to LCIF giving.

Now the question is, how many other clubs will

endeavor to do the same?

I am so sorry to report the passing of the following Lions:

ROY RAGUSE of Garden Grove Host Lions Club passed away in July, 2024. He joined the club in 1972 and was known to Club Members as “Uncle Roy”. He was the last member to actively collect mint money from the sale of Lions Mints. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on August 29, 2024 at St. Julian’s Church, 1316 North Acacia Street in Fullerton. A luncheon/reception will follow at the Fullerton Elks Club, 400 Elks View Lane. All Lions are invited to attend. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Garden Grove Host Lions Club.

BETTY PEQUET of Laguna Niguel Lions Club passed away on July 24, 2024. She was 98 years young and was a member for approximately 12 years. A Memorial Service will be held on August 23, 2024 For further information, contact the Laguna Niguel Lions Club.

FRANK ALVAREZ of Pomona Host Lions Club passed away on August 6, 2024. He was a member for 55 years, a Melvin Jones Recipient in 2003, Lion of the Year in 2007, Region Secretary in 1984-1985 and a Key Member. As of this writing, I do not have any information on a Memorial Service.
