Jeff Campana – Zone A
Hello District 4-L4 Lions,
Hi, I’m Jeff Campana, and I will be the Zone A Chair for the coming year. I have been a Huntington Beach Host Lion since 2016, serving as 2nd VP, 1st VP, President, and currently as Secretary. I’m excited to be a Zone Chair this year. Community service is important to me, and I’m always proud to talk about the positive work our clubs do in our communities.
Our zone has been expanded to seven clubs this year – Costa Mesa Goat Hill, Costa Mesa Newport Harbor, Garden Grove, Harbor Mesa, Huntington Beach, Seal Beach, and Stanton. I look forward to getting to know these clubs better and supporting them any way I can. My goals for the year are for the clubs to support each other, and (to borrow from my club’s motto) to do good while having fun.
The 2024/25 Lions year is off to a great start. We had our first zone meeting on July 22, and 36 people attended, including five new Garden Grove members from the same family! Each club gave us an update on their events and service projects. Here are some of the highlights:
Costa Mesa Newport Harbor just completed a successful Fish Fry, with $20,000 higher profit than last year. They’ll be holding their 5th Annual Ryan Ferryman Memorial Golf Tournament on October 14.
Garden Grove had another successful Strawberry Festival in May, and getting ready for their Ric Lerma Memorial Golf Tournament and Steak Dinner on August 16. They’re having a very creative Feed a Cop service event on August 23, where Garden Grove police get a free meal at a taco truck.
Harbor Mesa has several upcoming service projects, including a pajama collection, packing school boxes, and Trunk or Treat at Ronald McDonald House. They did a great job supporting the Costa Mesa Newport Harbor Club at its recent Fish Fry.
Huntington Beach is cooking pancake breakfasts or BBQ lunches at seven community events in July/August. They’ll also be cooking lunch at the first district membership meeting on August 31. Their Oktoberfest fundraiser at the Old World Biergarten is scheduled for October 30.
Seal Beach had a successful Fish Fry earlier this month, with an 18% increase in sales over last year. They have a very active service calendar this summer, including fresh produce boxes for Leisure World, National Night Out on August 6, their Arts and Crafts Faire on September 7-8, and Painting with a Purpose on September 28!
Stanton had a successful fireworks booth this year, highlighted by their mascot Sparkles TNT (Lion Lauri)! They will be participating in the Stanton National Night Out on August 9.
Costa Mesa Goat Hill placed 250 flags for Memorial Day at the Orange County Fairground Hero’s Hall. They will be packing school boxes next month.
Our next Zone A meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 22 at Fire Station 48 in Seal Beach. Don’t miss it!

Greetings,
My name is Brian Quan and I will be the new Zone-D Chairperson for District 4L4 for the new Lion year
2024-2025.
The seven clubs in my zone are Chino Valley, Cucamonga District Host, Diamond Bar
Breakfast, Ontario-Upland, Pomona Host, Upland Host, and Western University of Health Sciences.
Looking back over the last forty years as a Lion, I have been in every officer position from two year
director to being president of the Diamond Bar Breakfast Lions three times. Under PDG Gil Smith, I
served in the capacity of zone chairperson. To sum it up, I have worn many hats serving as a Lion in my community. I am looking forward to a great year under the leadership of District Governor Scott Quinlan.
I will begin the new Lion year for my seven Lions clubs with the first Zone-D Zoom Meeting scheduled for August 13, 2024 (Tue) from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. The clubs have previously been notified and I will
send out a reminder a week before the zoom meeting. We will discuss many topics from membership,
needs, projects, community service, partnership with clubs, and goals for the new year.
Remember this year motto from Governor Scott, “Lions guiding the way to service.” Where we go one, we go all!
