Hi District 4L4 Lions, my name is Kari Schlagheck and I am your Zone B Chair. I am President of the Orange County Central Lions Club (OCC Lions) for the third year.
I am excited to be a Zone Chair this year for DG Scotty. This year I am focused on Service, to share any and all service opportunities with the Zone and for them to share any and all service opportunities they hear about.
Being seen in the community as a Lion for any occasion, especially doing service no matter how small or big attracts folks to ask questions and to learn more about what Lions do. Our Zone’s clubs are off to a great start so far this year and we are all excited for what the year brings.
Buena Park are selling tickets for the Silverado Days Opportunity Drawing of $5k for only $2 each, they have had a booth at the Concerts in the Park this summer and have started a
Homeless Outreach Service Project.
Laguna Niguel had four members at Bowling event for
Special Olympics, they have been working with FAM-Family Assisted Ministries for a weekly food distribution, did back packs for 26 students, providing Thanksgiving meal baskets for 2 families and they will have a booth at the Sea County Festival.
Tustin for the June Chili Cook Off they worked a
beer tent, had a booth at Sunset Markets during the Summer to engage the community with a eye chart and collecting glasses, they continue with their quarterly lunches for the Fire and Police
Departments, coming up is the Tustin Tiller Days Pancake Breakfast and Ghost Tours in October.
OCC had a booth at CMNH Fish Fry, have continued with their service project at the food pantry once a month, participated in Serve Day Anaheim, they will have a booth at the La Habra Corn
Festival, participate in RMH Trunk-o-treat, AUMC Trunk-o-treat.
Mission Viejo is collecting eye glasses 500 per month, collaborating with Laguna Niguel for a project called Eye Care Africa that do work preventing eye disease in rural Rwanda, they helped at the La Habra vision screening, and will participate in the Olympic road race in Mission Viejo with a bike ride fundraiser.
Anaheim participated in Serve Day Anaheim and are brainstorming any new service project ideas.

An LCIF Update
Cucamonga District Host
Answers the Challenge
from Ontario-Host
In last week’s WRAP, the Ontario-Upland Club
announced that they were going to be a 100% Club
this current Lions year in regards to LCIF giving.
That means, each member, over the course of the year,
will donate $50 (or more) to this worthy cause.
(There are many different ways to do this…just ask
Loyce, or PDG Steve…some as easy as just doing
$5.00 a month)
Well…Cucamonga District Host is taking up their
challenge. We too will endeavor to be a 100% club in
regards to LCIF giving.
Now the question is, how many other clubs will
endeavor to do the same?
