Recycle Your Christmas Tree in LIC - Through Jan. 8

Looking to get rid of your christmas tree? Join NYC Parks and the NYC Department of Sanitation in recycling your tree into wood chips at one of these LIC drop-off points:

Nominate Your Favorite Queens Pizzeria - Celebration Feb. 9


The Queens Chamber of Commerce (LICP Member) will celebrate National Pizza Pie Day on February 9. In preparation for that day, they are creating an inaugural Queens Best Pizza competition and are now taking nominations for the best pizzerias in Queens. Nominees will be entered into an online vote to determine the pinnacle of pizza in the World's Borough. New York in 1900 was a tough place for a mutt. A street waif was constantly dodging wagons and horses, tolerating children’s taunts and the growls of filthy curs. Food was a scrap of meat from carrion found in the gutter. A glimmer of contentment gleaned from the gnawing of a bone that fell off a truck. So it was no surprise that when a woman patted him on the head, he followed her onto a ferryboat and on to the warmth of a train car in Long Island City. Read more here.
