LHC is excited to bring to our membership one of the highest-rated programs from the 2023 Premier program year! Join us and Dr. Matt Levy, Chief Medical Officer for the Howard County Department of Fire & Rescue Services, on Thursday, February 22 from 8:45 to 10 a.m., to learn more about a "Just Culture" framework that the Department has implemented, but can apply to all workplaces that are aiming to make continual improvements and positive impacts.

Active members (current dues-paid members) and LHC Sponsors are cordially invited to join Leadership for Happy Hour on Thursday, March 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Howard Hughes' The High Note. Reconnect with classmates and fellow alum for an enjoyable evening of fun and merriment in the Merriweather District.

LHC's next recruitment /information event for Leadership Premier 2025 will take place on(virtually) Tuesday, February 20 from 9 to 10 a.m. Join us to learn more about Leadership and hear from our featured speaker, Ian Kennedy, Executive Director of Merriweather Arts & Culture Center (MACC), LE '11, who will share information about MACC and why the beloved, local institution, Merriweather is on the map for more than music! Visit the link below to register and/or contact Tim Payne with questions.

Interested in Leadership U 2024? The next LU Information will virtually take place on Thursday, February 29, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. (register below); please note that the meeting access link will be emailed to registered guests as the date nears. LHC will be collaborating with Respite Retreats for its upcoming Service Friday on Friday, February 23 from 9 a.m. to noon at Respite Retreats, located at 6021 University Boulevard, Ste. 175, Ellicott City As part of their ReTreat Yourself program, volunteers will help fill boxes with uplifting and therapeutic items designed for cancer patients and their caregivers to take their minds off their diagnosis.

Be the change with MakingChange for Friday's March 22nd Service Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. Learn more about MakingChange, Inc., a nonprofit organization that is changing lives through financial education. Get a better understanding of their various programs – for both individuals and groups, along with financial and housing counseling services. Also plan to take part in some hands-on volunteering to ready the organization for their upcoming kickoff to Money Matters Month – Passport to Financial Literacy Event.

In addition, tax season is here! Do you have an interest in learning more about becoming a MakingChange Volunteer Income Tax Assistant (VITA)? Training is provided and you do not need to have a financial background! Please contact Jasmine Brewer to learn more.

Paige Getty, LP ' 17, recently announced that she will conclude her ministry with the UUCC congregation at the end of June.

Eleanor Hunt, Esq., LP '19, is among those attorneys selected for the Super Lawyers distinction. This is Ms. Hunt's third consecutive year receiving this honor for their excellence in legal practice, ranking her among just 5% of MD attorneys receiving this merit.

Adam Rickey, P.E., CPD, LP '20, has started a new position as Vice President, Facilities Service Line Leader at KCI Technologies, Inc.

Dick Story, LP '95, has been appointed Committee Chair of the Kent County Economic & Tourism Development Commission. Mr. Story has served on the Committee since 2018.

Join Historic Ellicott City, Inc. and the Howard County Historical Society for the first Mill Town Tea of 2024, on Thursday, February 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Museum of Howard County History, located at 8328 Court House Avenue, Ellicott City. A Full Afternoon Tea will include a selection of tea, sandwiches, scones, sweets, savories, and fruit, along with a short history of Valentine's Day traditions.
