STATE OF THE CITY - GREAT TURNOUT - GREAT INFORMATION SHARED!

From learning about the construction projects happening in the City and schools to hearing about our Buffalo Police Department and Wright County Sheriff's updating on the safety/security of our City and County - there was much positivity in the room!

Mayor Teri Lachermeier welcomed us and David Kelly and Taylor Gronau from City Hall spoke of the completion of the Hwy 25 project, on some housing developments coming in, on the purchase of land on west Hwy 55 for a future industrial park and more. Buffalo is growing, which is good to see!

Did you know that the Buffalo PD has 18 licensed officers that respond to over 1300 calls a month? Chief Deputy Matt Treichler shared that there was no officer involved shootings from 2008-2022 but we have had 4 in the last 3 years. He also shared that the co-responder program is working great - where a social worker rides along on calls that may involve mental health. There is a Frontline Outreach Program where we, as citizens, can donate gas or grocery gift cards or cash so that officers don't have to give out of pocket when they see a need. They may not change a long-term circumstance but can change the bad moment at the time. Both departments spoke of how blessed they are to have a community that supports them!

Brian Koslofsky spoke about how Wright Tech is in need of funding to help do some facility improvements. He is working, and has asked for our support, in getting in this years' Omnibus Bonding Bill in this legislative session. Our Wright Tech is the last vocational cooperative in the state and has served over 31,000 students in the last 50 years! Another gem right here in our community!

Our BHM School District serves 33,000 residences in 157 square miles with 5200 students. The budget is based on enrollment and enrollment is going down. There will be some staffing cuts/rearranging going into the next school year. This is consistent several other districts across the state. We have almost 100 students attending our Academic Luncheon who have earned a 3.67 GPA or higher. Our schools are something to be proud of!

Thank you again to our sponsors Bankwest, Culver's, Old National Bank and Thomes Insurance! Thank you to Bison Creek for a great meal! Thank you for coming - always great to see so many members in one room!

BUFFALO DAYS 2024

Ever thought of having your company in the parade? It's a great way to get your name out there and a fun way to get your staff or your family involved. Who doesn't love waving or throwing candy to a crowd and seeing the smiling faces?

Another way to support in a small way, is to buy a button board. They are $30 for a board, and once you sell all 10 of the buttons on it (for $3) you make your investment back. I buy one for Lillians and just have my staff enjoy taking one and maybe being the lucky winner for a cash prize.

Our button this year was created by Craig McGraw a gentleman from Functional Industries and his staff there, Harmony Walgrave. We love his sparkling fireworks design! Let us know if you would like a board and we will deliver!

ANOTHER DON'T MISS EVENT

The Buffalo Chamber and WCEDP bring you our local State Reps and Senators! It's a great time to hear what they have to say and ask any questions you may have as business leaders in our community. There are 7 of them able to attend - the larges group yet!

Be sure to register now! Just check the button below and get er done!

AMBASSADORS ON THE MOVE

RED TECHNOLOGIES

www.redtechnologiesinc.com

Emily and Keyden from Red Technologies were in person while, owner, Suzie Meier, spoke with us via Zoom from her home in Texas. Many of you know Suzie, as she started her business and actually sat on the Chamber board before moving to Texas in 2016, keeping the primary functions of her business here. That's what's great about technology, right? You can work from anywhere!! Good news is she's moving back to Minnesota soon!

Red Technologies creates websites, helps with Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and online marketing. They focus on small to midsize companies. Clients can sign on for a certain number of hours per month where Red Tech works their magic and then provides monthly analytics so you can see and adjust things to ensure your business branding is seen in the best possible way. SEO is a big one - making sure your website is built so it shows up high in searches no matter what search engine you use.

Red Tech has 10 expert staff who all work remote, though most are in the Buffalo area. They do web design, SEO, copy writing, blogging, photography, online marketing, program management, social media management and more! Give them a call if you want to make your business shine!

WHEN IT'S OK TO BE CLINGY

As you are out and about do you make a purpose to do business with only other Chamber members? Do you recognize and thank the businesses that are fellow members? When you walk in the door of a business- take note - do they have a Chamber member window cling?

Had to get some fixes done on my home computer last week! Thanks to Techmate - I am back in business in just one day! They can service your computer and your cell phone and more. Thanks guys for getting me up and running!
