Welcome to our special email for March 2022. Those of us in new LD2 had our reorganization meeting on March 5th where we elected a new board for the remainder of 2022. A little more about that later in the newsletter.

You may be wondering, what LD am I in? In a very broad sense, here’s the boundaries:

  • LD2 (east of 43rd Ave), 
  • LD24 (Beryl, Caron, Palo Verde), 
  • LD26 (Metro, Marigold, S Rose), 
  • LD27 (S Acacia (now: Surrey), Altadena, Calavar, Carol Ann, Christy, Cholla, Copperwood, Country Gables, Dahlia, Daisy, Gemini, Phelps, Pioneer, Poinsettia, Riviera, N Rose, St Moritz, Sunup, and Wood)

Use this website to determine which LD you are in along with some very useful information about the demographics of your LD when you enter your address.

The Maricopa County Recorders Office is another very useful resource for this information.

LD20 HIGHLIGHTS!

We achieved many things in LD20, but what did we do these past ten years in LD20?

  • Elected our first AZ House Representative – Rep Judy Schwiebert
  • Elected Dem Justice of the Peace - Moon Valley – Deborah Begay
  • Expanded our PC base three-fold, ending with over 70 PCs in 2020
  • Outgrew our meeting space due to growth – moved from an elementary school library to dual conference room at the Washington Elementary School District Admin offices
  • We had the most Trump to Sinema flips in 2018 of all the LDs
  • We helped elect Mark Kelly to the US Senate
  • We had a campaign office in 2018

We couldn’t do these things without the support of the LD20 PCs and friends of LD20. Thank you to all of you for our growth.

THANKS TO ERIC SHELLEY!

But, first BIG Thanks to our outgoing LD20 Chair: Eric Shelley. During his tenure, he expanded the PC base of LD20, conducted monthly Zoom meetings where participants got a chance to hear multiple candidates running for various positions, and provided communications to our membership.

Eric is a dynamo with Data Analysis and pivot tables and as a result of this, he will still be able to provide this expertise to our LD but also to the entire county.

FIRST LD2 MEETING
MARCH 16th 7:00pm

We are excited to hold our first monthly meeting of new LD2 on March 16th at 7pm via Zoom. Former LD20 members can attend, too. We are looking into providing a hybrid meeting format for future LD meetings where we can provide an option to attend in person and virtually via Zoom.

Speakers include Representative Judy Schwiebert and State Senate candidate Jeanne Casteen. Agenda is still being finalized.

We are so lucky to have representation at the State House with Representative Judy Schwiebert in office. Attend the March 16th LD2 meeting where you can hear from Rep Schwiebert and Jeanne Casteen who will be running for the State Senate.

These are crucial to get Jeanne on the ballot. If PCs are unavailable on those days and times, Mary Fortney (LD2 Campaign Manager) would be happy to cut them a list in their precinct so they can fill a page or two with signatures.

Join the CEBV team for an informative and fun weekly Virtual Happy Hour!

Sundays, from 4:00pm - 6:00pm

They'll discuss the upcoming week at the AZ Legislature, answer questions on key bills & issues, host breakout rooms for personal RTS instruction, and hear from a legislator or two!

You will be asked for your address when you register so they can send alerts about legislators in your current and new legislative districts.
