THE KORNACKI REPORT

"Let's go to the big board!" Vice Chair Eric Shelley took us through a 2022 election data recap at this week's LD2 Monthly meeting.

Here are just a few of the highlights and takeaways about LD2:

  • There are 48 voting precincts, and ~130K voters (~47K Independents, ~46K Republicans, and ~37K Democrats).
  • We went blue for Gov. Katie Hobbs and Jevin Hodge.
  • For the AZ House, Rep. Schwiebert won the most votes in the southern precincts.
  • Moon Valley precinct had an 80.1% voter turnout.

Future data presentations will address down-ballot performance, voter demographics in the northern part of the district, and more.

YOUTH ENGAGEMENT TOUR

Second Vice Chair Janet Johnson launched the first focus group of the 2023 Youth Engagement Tour. The conversation covered topics like affordable housing, education, healthcare, Queer Rights, the water crisis, and abortion.

The President of the Maricopa Country Young Democrats, Ricardo Serna, and at-large member of the Cartwright Elementary School District Governing Board, Anna Abeytia, expressed the importance of authenticity in elected leaders, candidates, and volunteers.

And two clear takeaways are that partnership and listening will be key to our success in this next election. "When young people get involved, they really get involved, but they need to be (and feel) welcomed," President Serna expressed.

Stay tuned to learn more about the focus group outcomes and the Youth Engagement Tour.

DONATE TO LD2 AND WIN A GIFT CARD!

If you’re reading this newsletter, you know the importance of voting in all elections and understand the process. However, not all of our LD2 neighbors do, so one of the uses of our funds is for the purpose of creating literature and mailers to help educate the voters of LD2 about the importance of elections – especially down ballot local races. Consider becoming a recurring donor to LD2 and you will be automatically entered to win a gift card for your recurring donation!

Anyone can donate - you don’t have to live in LD2.

How about $20.23 for LD2 in 2023?
