SUCCESSFUL WEEK OF LD2 EVENTS

We had a great time meeting new people at LD2’s first Happy Hours event on June 14th in the northern section of our LD. This just goes to show you that lit dropping (leaving flyers on doors) is an effective use of time. These new folks were energized to learn more and took the first step to getting involved. Not only did we have our fabulous LD2 candidates attend along with selected school board candidates, but we were surprised by Gubernatorial candidate Marco Lopez who was in town and visited with us, too. Who knows who will attend our next Happy Hour scheduled for early August?

We also had our monthly LD2 meeting on June 15th where we heard from our fabulous Democratic candidates for Secretary of State: Adrian Fontes and Representative Reginald Bolding. Each candidate shared with us why they should receive your vote as we head into the general election. Both candidates answered questions from our attendees ending with the sentiment that they would support whomever is the ultimate winner. Both of these candidates understand the importance of protecting our democracy and our vote. We also heard from Representative Judy Schwiebert for a legislative update and is running for re-election. We unveiled our new logo as voted by our LD2 PCs (see below section). Lastly, we started our collection of non-perishable foods at every monthly meeting.

It was a great week!

MARICOPA COUNTY REDISTRICTING

As a direct end result from the decennial census, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisor boundaries have to be reviewed and adjusted, per our state law. We heard during the LD meeting that the Board has to vote on the final map by July 1st. Currently, there are five draft map options which you can review HERE.

A public hearing is scheduled for June 20th to discuss the Board’s redistricting methodology and provide initial public feedback. You can also provide comments now on the draft maps.

Per Garrett Archer (aka: the Data Guru), maps 1 and 2 are more advantageous for Democrats; we have one Democrat on the board: Steve Gallardo.

You may recall the importance of this board in the 2020 election when they unanimously voted to certify the county’s election results from the general election. You can search the internet for all of the times they were “attacked” with subpoenas from our state legislature who were unhappy with the board’s decisions.

When I receive more information in regards to how you can help provide public opinion, I will share this with our PCs.

SUCCESSFUL WEEK OF LD2 EVENTS !

Take a look at our new LD2 logo as voted by the PCs of our district - it’s beautiful. Our plan will be to use this this logo in a variety of ways including business cards, magnetic name badges, and t-shirts working with a local union printer.

Thank you to everyone who submitted entries with special thanks to our winner: Whit Johnson.
