 OUR POWERS COMBINED!

female-protestor-newsletter.jpeg

After the tragic events this week in Uvalde, it has become clear, this Election is no longer about a political party. This Election is about getting leaders in office who can, and will, represent what more than 90% of all Americans want for this country.

We’re a fortunate Legislative District to have candidates, Rep. Judy Schweibert and Jeanne Casteen, who are: capable of getting the real work accomplished, willing to work across the aisle, and dedicated to passing legislation for all people. They will break this wheel of insanity we’re all living in.

For our friends who don’t read this Newsletter, for those who have never attended a LD meeting before, for the ones who want to be part of the solution but don’t know how to get started, the time is now to help them take the first step – even if it’s a baby step. It’s a step. And WE are the ones to help them do it! Let them know who is running, share the newsletter, perhaps share a portion of it that you think is most important on your social media, invite them to a virtual townhall with Judy and Jeanne or the upcoming Happy Hour on June 14th, Flag Day.

Now, as you read through this Newsletter during this somber time, it may feel uncomfortable to see logo contests and Happy Hours. But make no mistake, and never lose sight of all your hard work; what you’re doing is contributing to the bigger mission – to get our candidates elected this year.

The problems we are facing today are entirely unique to our country. But we still have a chance to change the trajectory of our community. With so much at stake – our Democracy, our Human Rights, and our Children’s lives - we must implore every person we know to show up and vote this year.

It is our powers combined that can and will make this happen. Thank you for all you do for LD2. We appreciate you tremendously. And we look forward to seeing you and your +1 (neighbor or friend) on Flag Day.

Take good care,

Meg Patel, EdD

First Vice Chair, LD2

DESIGN A NEW LD2

LD2 LOGO

AND WIN A GIFT CARD!

Wanted: Logo designs for LD2 Democrats.

We have started to receive some submissions for our new LD2 logo, and the designs are incredible! Keep sending in your logos for the contest. This will be a big decision for the team as this will be our logo for the next decade. This logo will be incorporated into our social media platforms, printed materials, name badges, banners, t-shirt, and more, so that we have a consistent look and feel to our “brand”. You don’t have to live in LD2, nor do you have to be a PC in order to submit your artwork. You can enter more than once. Winner will receive a gift card.

Here are the details:

  1. It must specify our LD number
  2. It must include the word Dems or Democrats
  3. It can not include any copyrighted material
  4. The LD2 Board reserves the right to reject unsuitable submissions
  5. Deadline for submission: June 6th

Only PCs can vote for the winning logo which will be conducted via email. We will send PCs the details in a future email. The winning entry will be presented at our June 15th LD meeting.

  LD2 HAPPY HOURS RETURN

ON TUE, JUNE 14TH FROM 5-7PM!

Happy Hours return on June 14th from 5-7pm! Please join us on Flag Day. As a way to introduce our group in an effort to attract more people to LD2 Democrats while supporting local businesses, your LD2 Board is bringing back Happy Hour events starting in June. We will begin in the Northern section of LD2 and need your help to promote this event. We’ll be dropping fliers at our Democratic neighbors’ doors inviting them to join us. Need lit droppers and drivers.

Sign up to help out by contacting: Aaron Connor at: agconnor71@gmail.com

This won’t be our first and last Happy Hour this year; we plan to have two more events between now and the election. We must capitalize on these events and make the most out of them. If you have a recommendation for a local business, preferably owned by a Democrat, please send us your recommendation to: chair@azld2dems.org

Judy Canvass Crowd.jpg

HELPING OUR LD2 CANDIDATES CORNER

Do you have a pick-up truck? Can you help bring folding chairs to various events for our LD2 candidates such as house parties and candidate in the park events?

If so, please contact Mary Fortney, LD2 Campaign Manager, at: mfortney@azdem.org or 602-376-7453 for more details

What are the other ways you can help? Can you make phone calls? Can you help knock on neighborhood doors? Can you drive a door knocker which is especially important in the summer?

Can you host a house party with your neighbors? These are just some of the ways you can help our LD2 Candidates get their message out to our voters. This is especially important in the regions of our district where we don’t have any PC representation which we learned about our April meeting.

Please contact our LD2 Campaign Organizer, Taylor Nelson who will be able to find just the right opportunity where you can get involved; she can be reached at 515-822-4022 or tnelson@azdem.org

 SCHOOL BOARD CORNER

Lots of Dems running for School Board.

As you know, LD2 is split between Deer Valley Unified School District (DVUSD), Paradise Valley Unified School District (PVUSD), and Washington Elementary School District (WESD) / Glendale Union High School District (GUHSD).

At the very least, each PC should contact the appropriate individuals representing your school district and help them out by getting them 10 signatures. Most candidates will be attending various LD2 canvasses and other events.
