I’m really excited to have our first in-person hybrid meeting in over two years at the Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) Conference Center and the first on-site one for our new LD

To celebrate the occasion, we invited all three of our Democratic candidates for Governor and Aaron Lieberman and Marco Lopez have agreed to attend where they will share with us what’s going on with their campaign, how you can get involved, and if there’s time to answer your questions. 

In light of the Supreme Court’s draft opinion to abolish a nationwide right to abortion, we’ll have Julie Coburn from NARAL discussing their outreach programs. 

We’ll get a legislative update from our Representative Judy Schwiebert who is running for re-election and AZ Senate candidate Jeanne Casteen.

Also attending, but not presenting will be Stacey Barchenger, a reporter from the AZ Republic who wants to talk with voters before and/or after our LD meeting. And if that doesn’t entice you enough, we will have cookies care of your LD.

Just a reminder, the conference center has their own parking lot at 32nd Street and Grovers. We will have signage to help direct you. Meeting starts promptly at our new time of 6:30pm, so please allow ample time.

HELPING OUR LD2 CANDIDATES

Do you have a pick-up truck? Can you help bring folding chairs to various events for our LD2 candidates such as house parties and candidate in the park events?

What are the other ways you can help? Can you make phone calls? Can you help knock on neighborhood doors? Can you drive a door knocker which is especially important in the summer?

Can you host a house party with your neighbors? These are just some of the ways you can help our LD2 Candidates get their message out to our voters. This is especially important in the regions of our district where we don’t have any PC representation which we learned about our April meeting.

DESIGN A NEW LD2

Wanted: Logo designs for LD2 Democrats.

We have started to receive some submissions for our new LD2 logo, but we need more – this will be the logo which we’ll use for the next 10 years.

This logo will be incorporated into our social media platforms, printed materials, name badges, banners, t-shirt, and more so that we have a consistent look and feel to our “brand”. You don’t have to live in LD2, nor do you have to be a PC in order to submit your artwork. You can enter more than once. However, only PCs can vote for the winning logo at our June 15th LD meeting (provided we have an adequate number of submissions). Winner will receive a gift card.

Here are the details:

• It must specify our LD number
• It must include the word Dems or Democrats
• It can not include any copyrighted material
• The LD2 Board reserves the right to reject unsuitable submissions
• Deadline for submission: June 6th

  LD2 HAPPY HOURS RETURN  

 ON JUNE 14TH FROM 5-7PM!  

Come celebrate Flag Day with us. As a way to introduce our group in an effort to attract more people to LD2 Democrats while supporting local businesses, your LD2 Board is bringing back Happy Hour events starting in June.

We will begin in the Northern section of LD2 and need your help to promote this event. We’ll be dropping fliers at our Democratic neighbors doors inviting them to join us.

We’ll provide you with more information at our May LD2 meeting.

As you know, LD2 is split between Deer Valley Unified School District (DVUSD), Paradise Valley Unified School District (PVUSD), and Washington Elementary School District (WESD) / Glendale Union High School District (GUHSD).

At the very least, each PC should contact the appropriate individuals representing your school district and help them out by getting them 10 signatures. Most individuals will be in attendance at our LD2 May meeting.

There is a new Citizens Initiative creating a series of VOTING RIGHTS statutes that address both the AZ voting suppression bills passed in 2021 and some of those being considered in 2022 by the AZ Legislature.
