June 16, 2023
Greeting Tiger Students and Families,
Happy Last Friday and weekend of the 22-23 school year, and I hope you are planning some exciting, relaxing, and memorable trips, adventures, and moments with your family, friends, and loved ones. This year has been one that I will remember for a long time as it truly was what I envisioned serving as your principal. I was able to spend more time getting to know students, staff, and families which helped build positive relationships with all stakeholders. My daily and weekly routine included visiting classrooms and watching our teachers do an amazing job of providing engaging, high-quality educational experiences for all students. I am very excited for the 2023-2024 school year and the many wonderful things we have planned to enhance student engagement in their classes, student and parent voice and input on school related decisions and continue to work on strengthening school and family communication and partnership. Together, we got this and we want to continue our belief that it “takes more to be a Tiger, and every Tiger has access to more.”
Another “shout out” to our amazing senior class, the class of 2023, for leaving such a legacy and example for our current freshman, sophomore, and junior class to follow. You will continue to do great things and lead our community in the right direction. I am excited to see differences you will make in the lives of others. Go Tigs!
I wish you all a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer, and please remain in contact with me if needed by email at ivanc@spokaneschools.org or by phone at (509) 354-6890. Email is the most effective way to communicate with me during the summer months, as I am in and out of the office during this time.
Will miss our seniors but see everyone else this fall!
Mr. Ivan Corley
Principal

Parent Survey
Every year, Spokane Public Schools reaches out to families to get feedback about their SPS experience. It’s an opportunity for you to let us know your thoughts on technology, extracurricular activities, school programs, and how we can best communicate with your family.
The survey will ask for the student’s ID number for demographic purposes, but survey responses will remain anonymous.
A link to the survey can be found here. Thank you for your participation!

Schedules for Next Year
Seniors and senior parents:
-
Thank you for 4 great years! We are so excited to see what your next adventure holds. This is your last LC News! There is no need to unsubscribe, we will take care of it on our end.
-
If you want your transcripts sent to your college/university, be sure to have the name of the school entered in your SchooLinks. This is the system we use to forward all transcripts. If you have any questions, please email theresam@spokaneschools.org - please do not email your counselor as they are off on summer break and will not be checking email.
Rising Freshman-Senior parents and students:
-
Starting in about a week, you will be receiving our annual Enrollment Verification Email. Please respond to this email so we can ensure a smooth start to the next school year.
-
Course requests are available for students to see on PowerSchool (not on the phone app, you need to log in on a computer). If you need any course changes or have any questions over the summer, please email theresam@spokaneschools.org - please do not email your counselor as they are off on summer break and will not be checking email. At this time, students can only see the classes they have requested, not the periods/teachers. PowerSchool made changes to the system and the actual schedules will not be available online until August.
- If you are planning to do Running Start (and you have a confirmed schedule at the college), check your LC schedule and let us know if we need to drop any LC classes so that we can open up seats for other students. Email theresam@spokaneschools.org to make any changes.
-
If you selected to take an SVL class during the registration process, you must register with SVL directly (see info below) if you have not already. We will begin removing all of the SVL requested placeholders from the course requests to begin cleaning up our data. In August, the SVL system will connect with ours and the official SVL courses will appear in PowerSchool. Because SVL is a separate school from LC, we do not have access to their course lists to check if you are enrolled. You will need to check with SVL directly - SVL@spokaneschools.org.

Happy last Friday of the school year Tigers!!
As we head into summer break (only a ½ day away), we would like to express our gratitude for all of you that contributed to a positive and productive school year. Thank you to those of you who actively worked towards building a supportive, caring and spirited school culture. Thank you to those of you who showed up every day and did your best, no matter what your best looked like for the day. Thank you to the students that showed academic, emotional, and social growth over the year. Mistakes happen, poor decisions are made, but showing learning and growth after should be celebrated and acknowledged. So, thank you to those who continually self-reflect and strive to be better than the day before.
We are truly a phenomenal Tiger community and will continue to pursue connection, commitment, and celebration of our collective successes in the years to come. This summer make sure to spend time engaging in healthy activities that feed and recharge your soul. Be intentional about the connections you make and experiences you get to enjoy. It doesn’t take a trip to take advantage of your time off. We challenge you to put your technology away for a time period each day and be present in your lives. Have a wonderful summer break and we will see you all rested, recharged, and ready to take on the 2023-2024 school year!!!
Sincerely,
Brandon Bouge 509-354-7023
Keoni Dang 509-354-6898

Summer School at LC
As the summer break approaches, we want to inform you about an excellent opportunity to recover credits and stay on track towards graduation. We understand that unforeseen circumstances or challenges can sometimes impact a student's ability to complete coursework. Our summer school program is designed to help students successfully regain credits they may have missed during the academic year.
Enrollment for Summer School runs June 5-12 here.
The 2023 Summer School program will run from June 22- July 7 (no school July 3-4). We will offer 2 sessions from 8:00-10:00am and 10:10am-12:10pm. Students may register for one or both sessions. Once the credit is recovered, students do not have to attend the remaining program days or may register for a 3rd course (if time allows). Summer School recoverable courses include those in Math, English, Science, and Social Studies. Letters were mailed home this week to any student currently failing or has previously failed a course needed to meet graduation requirements. For questions about your student’s academic progress, or courses to register for, please contact their school counselor. For questions about summer school logistics, please contact Rachel Glines.

Please Consider Donating
Over the past three years, the LC community has raised over $27,000 of the $50,000 collected for the SNAP Lights On educator’s fundraiser.
This year we are hoping that our LC family can help us reach a $1500 match goal from GESA Credit Union.
In addition, we are sharing the opportunity to give to another charity loved by LC staff: Isaac’s Bookshelf. This organization, run by LC teacher Laura Brincken, honors the memory of Isaac Brincken. The bookshelf provides free, new books to pediatric patients in Spokane hospitals.
Can the QR codes below or click on the image to open the web site.
Can you help us reach our goal this year?
Thanks for your support!
The LC SNAP coordinators (Andrea Bass, Mark Robbins, and Jen Showalter) and Isaac’s Bookshelf founder Laura Brincken
