December 1, 2023
Greetings Tiger Student and Families,
It is truly starting to look and feel like the winter season has fully arrived as we embrace the snowy conditions accompanied by the brisk, windy air that circulates throughout our community. The school year continues to move forward, and we have so many amazing things to celebrate and so many amazing things to look forward to. The number of LC Tigers who are engaged in clubs, activities, and athletics has increased by over 30% since the start of this school year. We have over 1,400 Advanced Placement exams registered to be taken by our students which reflects how dedicated to excellence our students are and their willingness to engage in rigorous experiences is one example of the “more” that is provided at LC. These are just a few examples of excellence that are occurring, and I am so proud of our staff who lead this work for kids. Every day, they give so much of their time, energy, and effort to assure that all kids are reaching their full potential.
There are areas that we are still working through to assure that all kids are maximizing their potential. Daily attendance and punctuality to school and each class are areas where we need support from our families. Daily, especially Mondays and Fridays, we ae noticing that between 100- 200 students are arriving after the start of the school day, which is causing a disruption for their learning and the other students in the classroom when that student walks into class late. Teachers work to get that student caught up with the rest of the class, but it is a disruption to the flow of our teacher’s lesson and can impact the pacing and the amount of learning for that day. So, please work with your students to assure that they are here early each day and ready to be the best learner. This will help every Tiger and help support our expectation that students arrive at every class on time as well. Thanks for your support!
Many exciting events, important information, and diverse opportunities are becoming available, so please be sure to read our entire newsletter. We do not want any student or family to miss out. If you have any questions or concerns, email me at ivanc@spokaneschools.org.
With gratitude,
Mr. Ivan Corley

LC Staff Appreciation
At this time of year when many of us reflect on all we have to be thankful for, we hope you will consider the efforts of our LC staff and teachers. Thanks to your generosity last spring, we were able to shower all 160 staff with treats during Teacher Appreciation Week and received feedback that it was the best ever! This year we would like to spread that show of appreciation across the school year. We plan to:
- do something special for staff/teachers prior to the holidays/winter break (approximately $1600);
- brighten the dreary late Feb/early March days by treating them each to specialized coffee/tea/cocoa drinks prepared by Brew Peddler delivered to each teacher/staff member in their classroom/workplace (approximately $1000) [VERY popular last spring];
- celebrate Teacher Appreciation week with an all-staff breakfast (approximately $1750) AND as many more activities as we can afford based on the funds received.
We hope to raise enough funds now to cover these planned appreciation events throughout this school year, but if needed we may request more assistance before Teacher Appreciation Week. Donation link https://lcboosterclub.square.site/product/teacher-appreciation/169?cs=true&cst=custom
Thank you in advance for helping us show our appreciation, love, and support for the approximately 160 teachers and staff who make a daily difference in our children's lives,

Student Drop-off/Pick-Up: Buses pick up students all around the perimeter of the school. Please do not park in these locations before school/after school. We recommend arriving for pick up after the buses have left at 2:40pm.
Student Parking: LC students can park in the two freeway lots (in front of the Field House and in front of the church to the east). Be sure to display your student parking permit to avoid getting a ticket in the student lots.
The lots under the freeway directly in front of the main building and the Commons and the Field House parking garage are ONLY for LC staff and are monitored and ticketed for cars without staff permits.
