LADWP Welcomes New CEO and Chief Engineer

Incoming Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of LADWP Janisse Quiñones

On May 14, Janisse Quiñones was unanimously confirmed by the L.A. City Council as the new LADWP Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Engineer, following her recommendation by Mayor Karen Bass and a unanimous vote by the Board of Water and Power Commissioners to appoint her to the role.


A seasoned leader, Quiñones has more than 25 years of leadership experience as a senior executive in utility and engineering industries, most recently serving as Senior Vice President of Electric Operations at Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) in central and northern California. She is also a Commander in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves and played a significant part in rebuilding Puerto Rico’s energy grid after Hurricane Maria in 2017.


"I am honored and ready to serve as the next CEO and Chief Engineer of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and I look forward to continue to get to know the LADWP family and supporting those that work so hard to deliver for the people of Los Angeles," said Quiñones, who assumed her role in full capacity effective May 14, 2024.

General Manager & Chief Engineer Martin L. Adams Retires


With heartfelt thanks, LADWP says goodbye to our former General Manager and Chief Engineer Martin L. Adams, who will retire on June 1 after a 40-year career with the Department. Adams was celebrated at the May 14 Board of Water and Power Commissioners meeting and presented with a board resolution in honor of his retirement.


Adams served in the General Manager’s role since July of 2019, and brought a kindhearted attitude and considerable experience to the role.


Beginning in 1984 as an entry-level engineer in our Water System, Adams rose to become Senior Assistant General Manager - Water System, Chief Operating Officer, and most recently General Manager and Chief Engineer.

Hollywood Reservoir Pollinator Garden Grand Opening


Join us for the official opening of our Pollinator Garden at beautiful and historic Hollywood Reservoir! The garden will serve for years to come as an excellent resource for visitors to learn about the importance of pollinators in the ecosystem and how much we all rely on them – even if we don’t realize it.


Our new Pollinator Garden will be dedicated at this event to the late Cindy Montañez, activist, conservationist, former Mayor of San Fernando and member of the San Fernando City Council, former Assemblywoman from California’s 39th District, former assistant general manager of LADWP and former CEO of TreePeople.

We’re Here to Help: Pop-Up Event Brings Support to Ward Villas Seniors


LADWP partnered with Ward Villas Economic Development Corporation to host a pop-up Customer Support event on April 20 at Ward Villas for Seniors in South Los Angeles. LADWP Customer Service Representatives provided on-site one-on-one consultations to seniors living at the apartment complex, many of whom are on limited and fixed incomes.


The event was an extension of LADWP’s Customer Support Saturday program, where select Customer Service Centers are open Saturdays to assist customers unable to visit during normal business hours.
