Los Angeles, CA. (Monday, July 24, 2017). As part of their upcoming tour dates across the United States, Grammy-winners LA SANTA CECILIA will perform September 17th at the historic Hollywood Bowl on an extraordinary triple bill with Mexico’s legendary Latin-Alternative leaders Café Tacvba, and fast-rising Chilean singer-songwriter Mon Laferte. As a precursor to this very special night, La Santa Cecilia is now releasing ‘Ingrata’ as the latest single and video from their recent critically-acclaimed visual album “AMAR Y VIVIR” which pays tribute to both the band’s Mexican-American heritage, and many of the great songwriters that have been their biggest influences.
With this lovingly crafted rendition of one of Café Tacvba’s most iconic songs (a global rock en espanol classic), La Santa Cecilia slow down the songs frantic pace back to the classic Mexican Music styles from which it was inspired, while flipping the song’s tale of ‘ungrateful’ love to the other side of the relationship - by having Mon Laferte join LSC vocalist La Marisoul for an astounding vocal duet of powerful young women.
"What connects us musically to Café Tacvba, and Mon Laferte, is that we all respectively like looking back. We are inspired by the music of yesteryear, the bolero, the ranchera and classic corridos. I think this is what makes this collaboration very special," explains La Santa Cecilia’s La Marisoul. “It gave us the opportunity to record with a contemporary like Mon Laferte, while showing we hold Café Tacvba in the same reverence with many of the great artists from which they found influence.”
‘Ingrata’ was recorded live on a rooftop alongside the Zocalo, the Historic Center of Mexico City – giving an opportunity to appreciate the classic colonial architecture of the Metropolitan Cathedral, along with songs traditional folkloric sound.
"It was a song that came to me in adolescence and I did not realize what was happening, which is something very interesting what made Café Tacvba to rescue a public very connected with the Rock in another language, with something very out , And connected it with something original. Today Santa Cecilia is taking this which I find beautiful. He is doing a tribute to Latin American music that finally joins with a lot of art, " said Mon Laferte.
"Amar y Vivir" debuted in the Top 10 of Billboard's Latin Albums chart, and has enjoyed excellent reviews from the press, making it one of the band's most successful albums to date. The great reception to this production has also led to La Santa Cecilia successfully touring to share their music in countries like Canada, Mexico Colombia and more
Now, in addition to the long-awaited concert with Café Tacvba and Mon Laferete in Los Angeles, fans in the United States will have the opportunity to see La Santa Cecilia on the following tour dates:
