LA Animal Services’ New Website Makes Finding Programs and Resources Easier for the Community

To Keep Pets and Families Together

Los Angeles, October 26, 2022 – There’s a new look and feel to the LA Animal Services website that makes it easier for City residents to search and find a furry friend to adopt or foster; apply or renew an animal license online; find upcoming pet adoption events; what to do if you find or lose a pet; and find alternatives to surrendering a pet to a shelter. So whether on a desktop or mobile device, Angelenos may now more readily find what they need on LAAnimalServices.com.

“Our website is the most public facing tool we have to communicate and showcase the programs and resources we offer to better serve pets and the families who love them,” said Annette Ramirez, Interim General Manager for LA Animal Services. “The redesign of the site enables us to broaden our outreach and further educate and generate awareness of our offerings like the spay and neuter vouchers available to all City residents and their companion animals; free pet food assistance through the Pet Food Pantry; and provide helpful resources and guides to assist first-time pet owners and foster families to care for their pets to keep families and their furry family members together while also increase engagement by inviting the community to view the site in their preferred language.”

With the launch of our new site, we are also inviting the community to be a part of the LA City Pets Share Squad to help spread the word – via social media or email – about the adoptable pets in our shelters. By being a part of the LA City Pets Share Squad, you will help DOUBLE the number of people in LA that learn about adoptable pets, take action, and heroes to LA’s animals. Join this virtual community by clicking here and help LA Animals find loving homes today.

Our new logo is also introduced, which is called ‘Animal Forward’ that speaks to the way forward that LA Animal Services, like many animal welfare organizations across the country, are caring for animals, both in and out of our shelters by working collaboratively with our community. It also lets people know what we stand for at a glance -- that as an open intake municipal shelter, no animal is turned away. The dog, cat, and rabbit are representative of some of the animals who make their way into our shelters, while the cityscape, mountains, and foothills, represent the communities we serve and support, which includes pets, the people who love them, and the wildlife surrounding our city who call Los Angeles home.

With our shelters at capacity filled with dogs, cats, rabbits, and pocket pets, we invite you to visit any of our six LA Animal Services shelters or join us during one of our upcoming mobile pet adoptions to adopt or foster a pet. Can’t adopt or foster, you can also show your support for the animals in our care, by clicking here.

LA Animal Services promotes and protects the health, safety, and welfare of animals and the people who love them, and is one of the largest municipal shelter systems in the United States. With six Centers across the City, LA Animal Services serves approximately 60,000 animals annually and responds to 20,000 emergency calls involving animals or people in danger. LA Animal Services is part of the Human Animal Support Services (HASS) international coalition, joining 38 municipal shelters and animal welfare organizations across the country to reimagine and transform the way shelters care for animals and their families, by offering access to resources to help keep families together; getting lost pets home quickly without having to enter the shelter system; providing food and medical assistance; and continuing to build on a strong adoption and foster program so pets find their permanent homes or are placed in foster care.
