 Technical Food For Thought:
  • What is the temperature gradient at the complex nozzle location in my pressure vessel that is refractory lined? The local temperature can be complex.  Sometimes to get the right number a process analysis needs to be done, then heat transfer film coefficients calculated, and then perhaps a finite element heat transfer analysis (FEA). The solution may include a process simulation, CFD, and FEA in the worst case. Our multiphysics team, consisting of process and pressure vessel engineers can get the job done. KHE has a remarkable record of solving these problems. Having key staff with over 200  years of experience solving the toughest problems in static equipment, we can get the job done.
  • Vibration issues - Is the ducting that serves as a header for my large fans configured properly? Perhaps branch intersections, causing vortex shedding is effecting your fan performance. A CFD model can assist in diagnosing what the problem is. Our rotating group has over 150 years of experience in dealing with complex problems in Rotating Equipment. We have developed complex CFD solutions to get the right answer. We are a one stop shop with CFD, FEA, Rotordynamics, Field Services, and Metallurgical and Materials.
  • Furnace coil vibration causing failure? Perhaps special instrumentation equipment for the harsh environment will provide the data you need. Our field services team has done this work for years. Our field services group can serve your needs.
  • How may fatigue striations does the fracture surface have? Perhaps a good count from an SEM will get you what you need. Our metallurgical lab has crossed this path many times and can shed some light on this.
