KnightHawk Engineering has started 2015 with remarkable growth in its Metallurgical and Materials Lab. Our turnaround time is fast and efficient.  Also our technical team is one of the best around.  Contact Dr. Carlos Corleto for your lab needs. Dr. Sri Krishna, the new head of our specialty engineering group has one of the strongest analyst groups in the world. It is a complete multidisciplinary team that is fully equipped to address the needs in the marketplace for complex modeling and simulation.

 Technical Food For Thought:

  • Why is there a hot spot on my reactor, after all it has refractory? It could be the problem has to do with local heat transfer effects, or there is a refractory failure. Both of these issues can be addressed with FEA heat transfer and structural analysis. The heat transfer response is useful to determine the thermal growth. The structural model will consider the thermal and gravity load of the system. Expansion joints may be incorporated or a refractory change to a different type. KnightHawk has developed significant expertise in these type problems. Some problems have included heat transfer effects as well. We are your one stop shop. Our static equipment group has over a hundred years of experience in vessels and many involving complex risk management issues.
  • Why does my blower start vibrating to alarm levels after lengthy runs? Depending on the process conditions it may have something to do with a polymer type coating condensing out on the blades. Some blowers have very large blade areas the even with a small change in thickness can shift the natural frequencies. These conditions can be modeled and the rotor can be de-tuned to this sensitivity to allow for full runs between shutdowns. Our rotating group has over 150 years of experience in dealing with complex problems in Turbomachinery.
  • In the blower above what is the natural frequencies! The answer is found by instrumenting the blades in situ to determine the natural frequencies. Our field services group can serve your needs by developing and implementing a protocol to get the data you need.
  • What caused my roller bearing to fail? Lab testing can provide useful information on the morphology of the failure by identifying high heat or foreign particles for example. Our Materials group can get to the bottom of it in our lab.
