KINDNESS IN ACTION - JUNE 2024

It is getting hot outside! This is not surprising when you remember that June marks the official start to summer. Summer weather, hot and humid, is right around the corner. We pay a lot of attention to heat levels as high temperatures can cause heat related emergencies like heat exhaustion and heat stroke; older adults, infants, children and pets are at higher risk, as are people in low-income homes with no air conditioning.

That’s where our FAN-tastic (sorry) Fan Program comes in. Each year, we give away box fans to folks living without air conditioning. If you need one, give us a call at 828-255-3066 or stop by our office at 23 Hamilton Street, Asheville NC 28801.

We are gearing up for two major fundraisers next month – our annual Golf Classic at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove featuring Brad Johnson and presented by Wicked Weed. We have added a new fun event, Football in July Tailgate party. Keep reading below for more details. We hope to see you at one or both events! These events help us raise essential funds to support our neighbors in need during challenging times.

EBLEN WELCOMES SUMMER INTERN

We are delighted to have Noah Connor join our organization this summer. Noah, a North Carolina native, born in Chapel Hill and raised in Wilmington is in his senior year at UNCA. He is studying Business Management, and hopes to continue his education after graduating this December with a Master’s in Finance. He grew up surfing in competitions through the US, and has a deep love for the ocean. He also has a deep love for service and volunteer work, as his mother raised him on volunteer work with a nonprofit in his hometown. Noah is helping us look at our business systems and organizations, and to optimize our systems to be more efficient.
