Eblen Charities’ unofficial motto is Kindness in Action and we invite you to put YOUR kindness into action to help our community.
We are gearing up for one of our favorite projects – ensuring that kids living in and at the edge of poverty have the school supplies that they need to be successful. School supplies can be expensive. According to a 2022 Deloitte Back-to-School Survey of U.S. parents, families spend on average, $661 per child in grades K-12 on back-to-school purchases!
These costs are overwhelming for folks who live in or at the edge of poverty. For perspective, the federal poverty guidelines for a family of four means that they make no more than $30,000 a year. Children end up starting the year without the supplies they need, or teachers end up reaching into their own pockets to purchase them. In either case, this places a burden on our most vulnerable students and their families. Join us in helping these families by supporting our upcoming Ingles Tools for School Supply Drive on August 2 and at our giveaway on August 15. Read below for more details on this and other ways you can support our efforts to assist those in our community.
