Change Healthcare Breach Notification Update*

Change HealthCare has been assigned by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to notify patients if their information was compromised in the breach. Previously, our malpractice broker, Sterling Seacrest Pritchard (SSP), completed an initial notification to the malpractice carriers.

However, as the breach investigation progresses, the malpractice carriers will likely request more details about the breach’s impact on individual practices and the number of affected patients. While Change HealthCare has committed to providing breach notifications upon request, they haven’t outlined a specific process for practices to obtain patient-specific numbers. SSP will continue collaborating with relevant organizations to offer guidance to practices.

** If you’ve received any correspondence from a malpractice adjuster or Change Healthcare, please forward it to Barbara Douglas at bdouglas@khfirst.com.
