Dear KHF Providers and Practice Administrators,

We have several updates to share regarding payor updates, programs and upcoming events. There is a lot of information, and we want to make sure we are keeping our membership informed. We recommend reading through this communication in its entirety and please reach out to us with any questions you may have!

Important Updates

Georgia Composite Medical Board Updates Rules on Tele-prescribing*

On April 5, 2024, the Georgia Composite Board distributed a news release which described its decision to not put previous tele-prescribing guidelines back into effect on May 1, 2024. It has decided to maintain DEA's proposed extension of guidelines until December 31, 2024.

This only relaxes the requirement of having to see a patient in person to prescribe a Scheduled Drug. This doesn’t address, and there appears to be no intention to address, the issue of your license allowing you to prescribe across state lines.

Recommendations for the 30 Month Well-Child Visit*

Did you know that the 30 Month Well-Child Visit is an important part of ongoing preventative care for children? It sure is! The 30 Month Well-Child visit is recommended by both Bright Futures and health.gov. It is also an important HEDIS measure.

Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) Bypassed to Permit Data Breach*

Multi-factor Authentications (MFA) is a recommended step to help safeguard your organization from cyberattacks. However, recent articles point out the need for even more stringent security measures. Click here to view the JacksonLewis article outlining ways to strengthen your MFA processes.

Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Advisory Committee Update

KHF has been recruiting for a committee to help represent and convey the needs of the APP group for topics such as Continuing Education, Practice Operations and other topics of interest to the group. We are close to initiating the startup of this committee. Thank you to the practices that have submitted candidates to participate.

If you have an APP provider who has an interest in the “big picture”, please send their name and email address to Donna Scowden at dscowden@khfirst.com
