There are so many things going on at Bloomingdale Public Library this month!

The library will be closed on Monday, September 6 in observance of Labor Day. We will reopen Tuesday, September 7 with our normal hours. The library is closed on Sundays through September 5. Please note: The outdoor wi-fi will remain on during holiday closings and on Sundays throughout the summer. Access is free and is available 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily.

In-Person Programs @ BPL

Join us every Friday for in-person storytime. Listen to our staff read stories, sing songs, and tell rhymes. Registration will open one week before each event. Please register as a family. This event will be held outdoors, weather permitting.

Drop your Teddy Bear or favorite stuffed friend off at the library to have some fun on their special day! We will meet outside the library for some crafts and games and conclude with a Teddy Bear Parade. When the parade is over you will leave your stuffed friend with the staff at the library and pick them up the next day to hear all about the fun they had! Please register each individual child attending since we need to know how many sleepover stuffed guests the library will have. Registration for this event is open. Click here to register. Virtual Programs

Need to practice for a test? Trouble with your math homework? Does your essay need editing? Get help from Brainfuse HelpNow and make homework less frustrating. We will go over the most useful parts of this online service so you will be able to find the help you need. No registration necessary, video posted to our YouTube channel on September 5.

Have you tried a Take It, Make It Kit yet? Register for any of the kits listed below, then pick up the kit during the designated pick up time and complete your own library program at home! Click on the program title to be taken to the registration page. Space is limited, so register soon.

(Ages 2-5) Kit Pickup: September 13 – 17 Celebrate National Ice Cream Day with fun ice cream activities including serving up your own (pretend) ice cream creations! Falling for Apples (Grades K-2) Kit Pickup: September 13 – 17 Fall is here and that means it is time for delicious apples. Learn more about this delicious fruit with a craft, game, and even a science experiment! Eurovision (Grades 1-6) Kit Pickup: September 20 – 24 Did you know that Eurovision, the popular song contest overseas, is coming here to America? Get ready to give your 12 points and have fun with music and culture in this interactive kit. Easy Woven Art (Grades 3-6) Kit Pickup: September 27 – 30 Pick up supplies to make your own woven/embroidered coasters, bookmarks, and more!

Learn to crochet along with Miss Carol! YouTube videos will be posted with a tutorial for each project. A supply list and written instructions can be picked up at the library. In addition to the YouTube videos posted each month, Miss Carol will meet via Zoom in September and answer any crocheting questions. Join us once a month for our Drop-In Chess Club! Enjoy open play with small fun tournaments and team games mixed in. For ages 9-18, meetings are Sundays, 2:30-4:00 p.m. September 19, October 17, November 14, and December 19.

Located around Circle Park, a story awaits your family. Be sure to check out The Storybook Trail often as new stories will be featured throughout the summer. The Trail is provided in partnership with the Bloomingdale Park District. Come out and enjoy!
