Special Statement from PSSA on the 2021
Powersports and Outdoor Show

The Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania State Snowmobile Association has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Powersports and Outdoor Show, scheduled for October 29-31, 2021. There were several factors taken into consideration but the biggest challenge facing this year’s vendors is inventory. These types of challenges are apparent everywhere, not just for us. A show that is light on powersports equipment and gear is not really a quality show for attendees. We hope our members and supporters understand that we’re not willing to do a show for the sake of doing a show. This decision did not come lightly. The board will evaluate the overall situation again at the beginning of next year to decide on holding a show in 2022.

As many of you know, the Powersports Show is our organization’s biggest fundraiser each year. In its absence we will be filling in with a couple of amazing raffles. Stay tuned for additional information on the raffles and as always, we are forever grateful for your continued support of us and our sport!

Grants available for snowmobile and
ATV projects in PA
Harrisburg, PA — The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn announced the department soon will begin accepting applications for grants aiding snowmobile- and all-terrain vehicle-related projects.

“Pennsylvania is home to thousands of avid snowmobile and ATV riding enthusiasts,” Dunn said. “Through these projects, we hope to improve upon and expand opportunities for worthy projects across the commonwealth.”

Applications will be accepted beginning August 2 through September 30. Applications only will be accepted electronically through DCNR’s online grant application system.

No match is required for this funding; however, applications providing matching funding will be given additional consideration.

Proposed projects eligible for DCNR grants include planning, land acquisition, development, rehabilitation, maintenance, purchase of equipment for maintenance and construction, and development of educational programs related to snowmobile and ATV trails and facilities.

Eligible applicants include municipalities, nonprofit organizations, and for-profit organizations in Pennsylvania.

With a few limited exceptions, all snowmobiles and ATVs in Pennsylvania must have a registration issued by DCNR. Statewide, Pennsylvania has nearly 29,000 active snowmobiles registered, and more than 191,000 ATVs. Grants are administered by DCNR with funding provided from registrations.
Clean Snowmobile Challenge
After 18 years of the Clean Snowmobile Challenge being held at the Keweenaw Research Center in Houghton, Michigan, the event will be hosted in Eagle River, Wisconsin this winter.

After being a virtual competition in 2021, plans are for the university teams to be on site once again competing in many categories, including emissions, acceleration, fuel economy and sound. There were 25 teams that participated in 2021 and more expected in 2022.

More details will be coming, but the dates are March 1-3 at the World Championship Derby Complex.
