Dear Friend,
KPC lost power following the recent terrible storms and heat wave. This made it difficult for us to function properly. Jetsunma and monastics who live on campus had to move out. Our gift store, the Mani Jewel, had to close. The prayer room was dark and stifling hot, although the 24 hour prayer vigil remained unbroken. No lights, no air conditioning, no refrigerators, no internet.
In addition, the closure of the Mani Jewel meant a loss of income, and the loss of all refrigerated foods created a cost. Summer is traditionally a season when donations decline, so the loss of power directly affected our finances.
On top of this, we are now facing a $6,354 final notice for our electric bill, which must be paid by July 13 or our power will be cut off by Pepco. This is unimaginable. Our commitment is to always provide a comfortable and welcoming environment for everyone needing a sacred place of peace. We rely on power to do this.
Please help to keep KPC's lights on and doors open for the sake of all of us by
donating here...
Thank you for your on-going support of our compassionate activities.
