☘️IS TODAY YOUR LUCKY DAY?☘️

Come check out our Lucky Day Loans shelf! Lucky Day Loans are copies of popular items with long holds lists. No holds, 7-day loan period, 3-item limit, and $1-a-day late fees.

If luck wasn't in your favour today, make sure to check back often, since Lucky Day copies are first come, first served!

Lucky Day items include 3 fiction titles, 3 non-fiction titles, 2 movies, 1 video game, and 1 French title. We’ll be adding and changing titles as the collection grows.

If you're interested in finding out what titles you can find in the Lucky Day Collection, or you'd rather place a hold than test your luck, you can find our booklist of starting titles on our website.

GPPL is awarded the Telus Community Board Grant

GPPL is excited to announce that we're the recipients of a $10,000 grant from the Telus Community Board Grant to go towards our upcoming Learn to Tech project. The grant focuses on supporting youth up to age 29 in Canada experiencing obstacles in reaching their full potential through funding health/educational initiatives.

The Learn to Tech project will refresh GPPL's classroom laptops by fall of 2024. In 2023, these laptops supported a variety of programs and classes, including Basic English & Work Skills Class (BEWS), English for Ukrainians, Graphic Design with Canva, Writing SOS Workshop, Introduction to Computers, Financial Information 101, Microsoft Office Basics, Homebuyers Seminar, Coding Basics, Internet Security, Career Planning/Resume help, and more. These programs are hosted by GPPL staff or members of the community.

The Learn to Tech project funding will update our laptops in order to continue offering our existing programs sustainably into the future. We also aspire to expand our program offerings to things like content creation (video/audio) and more coding-based courses, things that we can’t offer currently due to the hardware limitations of our current laptops.

At GPPL we believe that no-cost education and training are critical in supporting youth and other equity deserving groups, allowing for the opportunity to obtain new skills with no barrier to entry. Thank you to the Telus Community Board Grant for providing us with the funding to continue and grow.
