This Month's Free Movies to Stream for Alki Families

Alki Elementary PTA has recently subscribed to a movie licensing company so that we can hold movie nights and so teachers are officially able to show movies in class without violating copyright laws.

An added benefit of this subscription is that each month we are able to share links to movies that you can stream at home on your computer/tablet/phone for free! The movies are available on the dates listed below ONLY.

Please be sure to look up ratings and read the descriptions of all movies before you view as some movies we share here may only be appropriate for older kids or adults.

To watch either of the movies listed below, first click on this watchlink and then when prompted enter the correct passphrase listed below the movie and date you'll be watching.

The following link provides instructions for logging in and other details about streaming movies: https://swankmp.clickhelp.co/articles/#!virtual-streaming-user-help/learn-more-and-faq

*Please do not share your Watchlink and Passphrases on any Social Media Platforms or outside of Alki Elementary families*

Please do tell your Alki friends. If they are not signed up to receive emails from Alki PTA with event updates and information, they can sign up here.

We hope you enjoy the movies!

Save-the-Date! Art Walk Thursday, May 18th

Alki's art curriculum includes the elements of art and principles of design through the lens of art history and contemporary art from diverse artists around the world. Students have open stations and can use a wide variety of mediums to create each work of art in the studio style art room. Planning, experimenting, refining, and creating are all part of the artistic process students use for each project which allows artistic choice and ownership over each beautifully individual piece. Alki's art program uses an art studio model where students are introduced to artists from around the world and the elements of art and principles of design. Students take inspiration from artists and create their own works of art using a wide range of available mediums.

WHY JOIN THE PTA? The number one reason to join the Parent Teacher Association is to benefit your child. In doing so, you also help your school. But there are many more PTA advantages from pta.org:

  • Get Connected There’s no better way to know what’s happening in your school.

  • Speak Up PTA can be a way for you to more effectively suggest change at your child’s school and vote at membership meetings.

  • Discover Great Resources: The PTA offers a variety of programs designed for parents as well as students.

  • Witness Improvement By getting involved at your child’s school you’ll be part of the solution, helping make positive changes. Local PTAs play an important role by supporting building improvements through advocacy and play an important role in fundraising for curriculum-based programs and social events.

  • Be a Role Model By becoming a PTA member, you’ll be demonstrating to your child the importance you place on education.

  • Enjoy Substantial Benefits Individuals and local units can take advantage of a host of benefits from PTA membership including discounts and offers from member benefits providers and sponsors, magazine subscriptions, leadership training, e-newsletters and much more.

  • Tap into a Network PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, building rapport and discussing issues that are on your mind. You can share ideas, concerns, and experiences.

  • Watch Yourself Grow By volunteering with your PTA, you put your skills and hobbies to use for a noble cause—your child and all children in the community.
