HEAT STRESS PREVENTION
Heat-related illnesses can be prevented. Important ways to reduce heat exposure and the risk of heat-related illness include engineering controls, such as air conditioning and ventilation, that make the work environment cooler, and work practices such as work/rest cycles, drinking water often, and providing an opportunity for workers to build up a level of tolerance to working in the heat.

DRINKING SUPPLIES
Keeping a crew safe on a jobsite can be tough when the weather heats up.Heat stress is increasingly being recognized for contributing to the rapid onset of fatigue, distraction, inattention
to details and other deficiencies.

Rule No. 1 is to maintain proper hydration.

Safety and health organizations recommend workers who face a risk of heat-related illness to drink small amounts of cool, non-alcoholic liquids frequently - one cup every 30 minutes.
When workers are properly hydrated, they are healthier, safer and more productive, no matter what the weather or working conditions.

FIRST AID KITS
OHSA regulations state, "the supplies found in the safety kit should reflect the kind of injuries that occur and the kit should
be stored in an area where it is readily available for emergency access."

Ram Tool Construction Supply Co. carries a variety of safety kits and products for your job site and will deliver them to you -

OTHER HEAT RELIEF ITEMS
Working in extreme heat - temperatures 10 degrees or more above the average high for the region - is sometimes unavoidable but it doesn't have to be intolerable. With planning, construction laborers can work safely when temperatures are high.
