Beat the Heat

Stay cool and safe this summer with these essential tips:

  • Be aware of Heat Index (HI) values issued by the National Weather Service.
  • Recognize symptoms of heat disorders like sunburn, heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke, and know how to provide first aid.
  • Take care of yourself by staying indoors during peak heat hours, wearing light-colored and loose-fitting clothing, staying hydrated, and avoiding alcohol and caffeine.
  • Slow down and avoid strenuous activities during the hottest parts of the day.
  • Never leave children or pets in closed vehicles, protect them from the sun, and ensure they have access to shade and water.
  • Protect your home by using shades or draperies to block out sunlight, conserving electricity, and avoiding activities that generate heat indoors.
  • Familiarize yourself with heat disorder symptoms and first aid procedures.

Enjoy the summer responsibly!

Pollinator Week, June 17 - 23

Get ready for Pollinator week! As a Bee City USA, Grapevine strives to be a part of the continuous conservation effort to provide sustainable habitats for pollinators such as bees, butterflies, beetles, wasps and moths.

We do this by-

  • Increasing the abundance of native plants
  • Providing nest sites such as Parr Park Pollinator Prairie (pictured above)
  • Reducing the use of pesticides

Grapevine is committed to creating healthier and more sustainable habitats for pollinators to live so that ecosystems can thrive for generations to come.
