Wait . . . it's May Already?
|
|
Is your year flying by? Mine sure is. I thought 2020 went fast. But 2021 is even faster.
Last year, I managed to produce three new books.* But this year, I am only planning one book - and a lot of other great content.
- Between now and December, I'll be producing three brand new 5-week courses over at Great Little Seminar.
- AND we are planning a major ecommerce product inside the Small Biz Thoughts Community. In fact, that project is about to be publicly released. Summer Starts June 20th. I expect the launch well before that.
- AND we're unveiling a major new service during the Summer. This one requires a massive amount of work. BUT I hope it will change the trajectory of your business forever. At least, I hope it does.
I promise you'll love the new programs.
And I know it sounds corny, but I *LOVE* the companies I've built. They're designed around helping you to be as successful as possible. I know a lot of people build programs that cost a lot more, or are super-complicated. But my goal is to focus on truly-achievable improvements that will have a positive impact on your business right away.
|
|
I recently read a bunch of ITIL and ITSM books. My overall impression is best described as overwhelming. The vision I have in my head is like the detailed view of a micro processor.
I know I've written some detailed checklists over the years, but I try to focus on a real-world, actionable approach that you can implement right away. I know that things need to be complicated in enterprise environments, but I've also managed a helpdesk for 5,000 desktops at HP, so I know the power of simplifying processes, rather than making them more complicated.
. . . Anyway . . .
As we move through the rest of this year, all of our new programs and services will have the same goals in mind: 1) Help you to be as successful as possible; and 2) Provide realistic, actionable solutions that you can implement without spending a fortune or taking a long time.
After all, I'm a real fan of the "-In-A-Month" format. Simplicity has many benefits.
* New Books: The Absolutely Unbreakable Rules of Service Deliver, The Small Biz Quickstart Workbook, and Business Plan in a Month.

Simplicity Can Have Drawbacks
I try to keep my life (and work) simple. So here's a personal note that struck me as a bit ironic.
When I travel, I don't bring home artwork, new clothes, or a bunch of collectable chachkies. What I do collect is pebbles from beaches. Whenever I visit a beach, anywhere in the world, I find one tiny pebble to bring home.
Who cares? Well, my daughter is starting to talk about having a baby. She's stopped drinking and is taking extra vitamins. All good. And sometime in the next year or so, there might be a baby in my life.
Here's the irony: My house has nothing in it except little bowls filled with choking hazards!
Luckily, I have plenty of time. But "baby proofing" my house will probably leave me with a bunch of empty little bowls. Ah, well. We'll see what the future brings.

Final note: We already have a bunch of people signed up for the new Social Media Course. Join us!
Thanks for reading my random thoughts.
Have a great week.

Optimize Your Social Media Marketing and Advertising
Course 5W23
Taught By: Karl W. Palachuk
Five Tuesdays
- All classes start a 9:00 AM Pacific
Part of the "Social Media Super-Charge" Series for Small Business
This course covers the key elements of designing, planning, and executing a modern social media strategy in the Small Business environment. We cover the use of social media for both marketing and sales.
Most small businesses "use" social media, but don't really have a strategy for using social media effectively. That strategy starts with understanding the strengths and weaknesses of various platforms. And it culminates with a unified approach to branding and how your company presents itself across a variety of platforms.
This course starts with a business-focused overview of social media marketing and sales. We discuss taking control of your brand and managing how you show up on the web. We present a strategy for creating and managing your overall branding across all social media. Finally, we do a deep-dive into automating and managing your social media presence going forward.
This course is taught by Karl W. Palachuk, a social media influencer who "touches" over one million people per month. Karl has been using these social media for more than ten years, and has demonstrated mastery across all of the major social media that small businesses need to be successful.

Game Show News!
I designed a fun game show to kick off my Roadshow. It's based on one of the most obvious elements of our industry: We love acronyms!
WAIT - What Acronym Is That? is a game show where players gain points for showing off their mad skills at techno-babble gibberish.
And even though TWAIN doesn't have a name . . . it's on the list!
Right now, we'll planning UK and Canadian cities - plus ONE in the U.S. If the game is a hit, we'll bring it to U.S. and Australia cities next year.
